I just got back from taking my mom to an appointment, which was out of town. The trip was almost 90-minutes both ways. I was driving on the highway at speeds of up to 70mph.
I don't recall ever driving that fast before. I was shifting into 5th gear quite often. It was definitely an adrenaline rush.


I felt like I was in a Need for Speed video game.

that's the posted speed, here. and people don't usually drive that slow (except for the chowderheads who want to drive 50 in either the left or middle lane).

Posted speed limit is 60 mph. I'm not really comfortable driving that fast. I consider myself a slow and careful driver.
There were several motorcycles that passed me that was going faster.

I’m the same way but I did manage to get up to 200kmh, or 125mph, while driving on the autobahn. I probably drove that fast for less than 30 seconds. I was scaredy cat

Once got my 1989 IROC Z-28 up to 140mph (pegged out the speedo) it scared the shit out of me and I only held it there for a few seconds
I thought the front end would left up.

I was so happy to get it back down to "Ludicrous Speed" and back to "Plaid"

Oh the autobahn was so fun to drive on, I got to drive a fellow Soldiers 1980's Porsche 911 on it.

I was wondering if you had driven the 140 on the autobahn. I know you were in the Army and Germany is a place where you guys are likely to get stationed. While I was in the Marines, I had a high school buddy that did all four years in Germany.

I was in Germany and I was WAAAAAAY into the import scene at the time and I used to go out with this car club and this former Marine, George, had a 400hp Skyline R33. I don't remember if I ever rode with him but that was pretty cool.

That would be awesome to drive a Porsche on the autobahn. Never been in a Porsche before. How long were you stationed there for and what kind of trips did you go on during your time off?

125 mph........ That’s insane.
I topped 70 mph and I thought that was too fast. I had to brake a few times.

i've driven about 130 in 4 different cars. the first 2 cars i owned had v8s in them and had some decent power. my third car was actually a truck with a v6. it didn't have great starting speed, but it was pretty good on the top end. and i got my first accord up to about 130.

yep, i was pretty much a maniac driver when i was young. i got a few speeding tickets, but i also got some warnings without tickets.

i've slowed down as i've gotten older as i tend to drive the posted limit. but there are times when i put my foot down a bit just get through some traffic that may be going under the limit (which aggravates me...just go the posted limit and all is well).
