Having a beer out in our new backyard, wondering if I made a mistake of walking out of the interview today once I found out the job they were offering me was entry level warehouse NIGHTS when I distinctly applied for a Driver (day) position. I told the interviewer I couldn't work nights, but thanks anyway. He said "well you don't meet our requirements for the Driver position" - ummm, okay, I have my CDL and have 5yrs prior experience driving box trucks what else do you idiots want? Oh, and I guess their warehouse only operates at night? What the f**k is that about?

Well good thing I like to drive, looks like I'll be keeping my current job and commuting 2 hours(~100miles) one way for work. The gas though... I may need to look into getting a car with better gas mileage (I currently get ~35mpg).

2 hour commute? The Mrs did that crap for 15 years back in Washington State. Sounds like we had similar interviews. Nice try UPS, I’m not killing myself for part time and the promise of full time job down the road. I should have known something was up when I saw the shortest interview with one of the other candidates. Makes me wonder how many took him up off his offer. I might check the site to see if any of the other depots are hiring full time.

I presume she didn't mind the long commute, if she did it for 15 years? I like driving but a 4 hour commute daily is going to be tiring. At least with my schedule I'd avoid rush hours...but still. My parents are planning to move by the end of the summer so my brother (and his two boys who currently live with them) will be looking for a new place, I'm thinking about keeping this apartment and splitting the rent with him. Its only a 2bdrm but I'll only need a couch to crash on between shifts as I'd go home every weekend.

As for the interview, I think the interviewer took one look at my resume and saw my current job is in warehousing and thought "easy bait to fill their warehouse" - little did he realize I was trying to get out of warehousing and didn't bother to look at my past jobs/experience.

Good luck with UPS, I tried to get in there as a FT driver going back 10 yrs ago and they kept offering me temp jobs or a full time package handler position. I still get job alerts from my local depot but they're almost exclusively package handler positions.

Yeah, mine wasn’t really paying attention to what I was saying either. Just looking for a quick in or out response. He wrote down, retail and Target despite me saying they were one of the few retailers I haven’t worked with. So I told him I needed to discuss it with my wife since I came in to interview for a full time position. They’re just looking for warm bodies and I’m not going to kill myself physically for a part time gig. I’m in the Murtaugh effect of my life and you can’t pull the wool over this old dog’s eyes.

It's always good to see companies consider people for other available positions, but I'm surprised that they didn't mention it prior to the interview.

They didn't. Even the very brief phone interview I had they had only mentioned/asked questions about my qualifications regarding the Driver position I applied for. Oddly enough they said I was qualified for the Driver position over the phone but in the formal interview they turned face and said I wasn't.

Sitting here with my daughter and drinking a cup of coffee. Thinking about taking the Jeep in for it's free 6month service (oil change) this morning then get some breakfast at a local cafe. Then back here to wait for my brother to show up so we can finish dry walling at the new house and some much needed landscaping.

Nursing a headache. I just sat down to a hot cup of coffee and fired up my Discover Weekly on Spotify. Sacrilege, but put the coffee in the microwave to get it warmer than the Nespresso can. Man, I miss my Keurig. It knew how to make a hot cup of coffee. I’ll see if there are any new jobs on Indeed. Enjoy your day.

i wouldn't mind getting one like my sister has, but my normal coffee maker is still running good so there's no since in buying another one if i don't have to.

Totally, if it isn’t broke there’s no need to replace it. Our Keurig didn’t make the move with us from Washington State and my wife picked up a Nespresso once we moved in here. So that’s what we use. I’m not as big of a fan as she is.

Got stuck near the very end of Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey Redux. Just going to watch the ending now on YT, tired of trying for hours to make it through the Chaos puzzle on B6F in Horologium. I love the mega ten games but this is the third one in a row I've gotten about 95-98% of the way through and was unable to finish.

Just got back from the ER. I guess something bit me between my two smallest toes on the right foot because it blistered and half my foot is swollen and red. Plus it itches like a mofo. Got a steroid shot some antibiotics and a cream.
