Wow, I was asleep almost a half hour before being woke out of a dead sleep. So I’m having a whiskey mixer and hoping I can go back to bed.

Coffee on my first break of the day and trying to submit a insurance claim as the "tornado"(eh the weatherman called it that, I call it a glorified thunderstorm) caused a big oak tree in my yard to come down on the garage. Hoping to hear back on the claim today so I can begin cleaning it up this weekend.

On the new place Mike? We’ve talked about removing the remaining big trees from the back part of the property, but things are still up in the air around here. So it is up to her. Plus she needs to get the damn foundation looked at before that kid of ours breaks through the floor running around like a jackass.

Spotify, coffee and scrolling through the forum. Almost feel like calling up a cousin down south to see if I can come down for a visit, but don’t want anyone in my family circle knowing my woes. Which leaves me on what I need to do to occupy my time. Because I’m tired of talking in circles.

Yup. It was a tiny, one car garage with little/no space to actually work on a car so I was planning on having it demolished to build a bigger shop area but not for at least another year due to limited funds. Fortunately we didn't have anything in it last night, we both park our cars outside and the stuff we were storing out there was brought inside a week or so ago to sort through. So I guess in a way Mother Nature did me a favor, instead of having to pay someone to "professionally" take it apart (or doing it myself) She did it for me and I can possibly get some insurance money to go towards the new one.

On that note, I just got off the phone with my insurance agent after noticing they denied my claim saying I wasn't covered. Apparently it was a clerical issue, I changed policies when we moved removing Renters on the apartment and adding Homeowners proactively but apparently it wasn't showing up in their computer despite having the policy and returned check for the premium in hand. Had to "prove" that our premium is paid and that our house is indeed insured, pretty crazy stuff, and our agent is sending an adjuster out tomorrow to take pics and restart the claim since apparently the pictures I took weren't good enough. Oh well, he assured me everything should be back to "normal" and the adjuster will have check in hand tomorrow. Gotta love USAA, even when they f**k up, their customer service is top notch and quick to fix it! Would've been jumping through hoops for months with my previous insurance companies (Geico and Travelers) for sure.

Right now, I'm drinking a beer out side before another storm hits. The kid had to spend the day with my parents and is still a little bummed out so I think I'll fix one of her favorites for dinner (spaghetti and meatballs) to cheer her up. I hate leaving her with my parents but I'm still uneasy about leaving her home alone while My Wife and I are at work.

Glad you got it all sorted out Mike. Sitting here having a beer in the carport. The nap was a no go. I really wish my MiL would ****ing say something about our son’s behavior, but I get the feeling she’s afraid to say rock the boat

wait what? a grandparent afraid to intervene and tell their child how to parent their child? Where do I sign up? Its one reason I hate leaving my daughter with my folks when my wife and I are at work, every time I go to pick her up, my mom's always got some remarks about my parenting...oh you think she's spoiled? Sorry to hear that you think that, but she's only 11 and probably has worked harder than you ever have. Nothing she has is handed to her and her real father was killed when she was only 3 months old, so sure I let her do what she wants at times giving her guidance when its warranted. Oh, and my father...he'll invite her out to "help" him in his shop but as soon as she tries to do anything he scolds her. Like really old man, if you have a issue with her touching your tools maybe oh I dunno, DON'T TAKE HER OUT THERE! BTW, I have an extensive collection of tools myself and my daughter is the only one I trust to use them, not my wife not my best friend not my siblings, but only her. She's only 11 but I know she'll use them with care, clean them up when she's done and return them where they rightfully belong.

Sorry for hijacking your post Don, I'll get off my soapbox now.

o/t: Just fixed spaghetti and meatballs for dinner so now naturally I'm eating and watching some Last Man Standing reruns on TV. Not as good as Home Improvement but we like it.

Nah, I get it Mike. There’s a reason why I don’t talk to my folks. My MiL sees it as a losing battle. Her attitude is, “there’s nothing we can do about it. So why fight it?” My wife on the other hand sees me bringing up I’m not the only one who thinks the kid is out of control as trying to pit her against her mother. No, I’m trying to tell you the only one that doesn’t see there’s a problem is you

If it wasn't summer time and hot as balls everywhere, I'd give you shit for the straw color of that beer.

I have to get re-certified on Haul Truck this morning, then come back and sleep so I can work tonight.
I was cruising with a driver on the other crew yesterday and it’s wild how big these machines seem when I haven’t been on one for awhile.
Google Komatsu 830E if you’re interested in what I’ll be operating until Tuesday.
Have a great weekend!

and hanging out with my little brother while i wait for the insurance adjuster to show up. He's gonna help me clean up the storm damage the other day once the adjuster documents the damage for the claim.
