Eating my lunch and just returned a call from a customer who canceled tonight's appointment for a new alternator. Apparently loyalty doesn't mean shit to him, I've worked on his cars for years, he was formerly one of my father's customers til now, he is insisting on paying 5x as much and taking it to the dealer instead because he "can't wait on me". Well gee sorry bud, unfortunately I need a fulltime job to pay my bills. Sad part is he's got a 2pm appt at the dealer and I Could have had it done by 4pm today.. I hope they rob him blind, dumb bas***d!

Oh well, that opened up my evening I guess. With the wife out of town maybe the kid & I can catch a flick or something -it's been awhile since I watched a movie on a work night.

Washing the bedding and about to play some Ryse MP. I’d really love to be sleeping, but got woke up early by The Boy and MiL. So I’m trying to find my chill before work. Hopefully the boss isn’t in a ball busting mood. As all but one project got done last night. Of course the other lead is off and left their project undone because they had to cover register. So that should be fun to deal with.

Exactly. Thing is unless he has a recently departed uncle or something he's not rich but whatever. The book time for that job is something like 6hrs, which makes me suspicious why a dealer would even schedule an appt so late in the day... Nonetheless it would have taken me 30min, maybe an hour if there's any rusted/stubborn bolts. Oh well not my problem altho I Could have used that sixty bucks... :-D

just finished installing and setting up my new security system. they had better reviews and lower prices than my previous system (adt).

and, of course, when i called adt, they tried to get me to stay...started whining about this or that... yeah, whatever. you should've been good to me before by NOT raising the prices and being about double what i was paying when i first had it installed.

my new company has a guarantee that the rates will never go up for as long as i'm with them.

Finished up at work a little early and traffic was almost nonexistent so I made good time getting home, kid still beat me though(hey, she gets out at 2pm and only has to walk 3 blocks). Anyway, we're currently doing her homework(yep, I said "we" - it really feels weird to be back in the 6th grade).

Ha karma' s a real b1tch...so here's an update; he took it into the dealer yesterday and of course the minute they put it on the rack the service writer start working him hard. Granted some of it was true none of it was necessary (I.e safety items) at this time and other than the alternator nothing they recommended had any thing to do with his original issue. He was smart enough to decline any work so he's just out of the $150 "diagnostic" fee...Anyway he called me last night literally begging me to replace it for him today, I said sure but I'd have to charge him double for an "emergency visit" lol

Dumba**. Now im hoping to be able to bail out of work a little early today to do that...

Only time I take it to the dealer is for software updates and stuff only the dealer can handle.

Even with my warranty I'm under no obligation to have the dealer perform the work and I like and trust my mechanic better. Most dealers now have one or two techs that know a oil filter from an air filter anyways, gone are the days of quality work being done at a most dealership and most brands for that matter.
