Taking an at-home covid test. I haven't been feeling well the last couple days and haven't been sleeping well to boot, I'm hoping its just the heat but it's better safe than sorry. I also got irritated at work as I'm getting fed up with the lies and unnecessary BS at work this morning that I left early, As I was leaving I approached one of my supervisors and told him I was tired of being their puppet, that I was leaving before I did something drastic and that if they didn't like it they could take my credentials and walk me out. So I'm sure there will be some kind of intervention tomorrow morning about that. Funny how bad things have become there in the last year that I'm willing to throw away eight years as we enter a recession no less. It's literally a dead end job with high turnover and really what is the point of seniority when Joe Schmo can walk in off the street and start making as much as you do after you've been topped out in pay. It's sad, we top out on pay in two years, other than menial COL raises which this year we didn't even get for some reason, stocks are down and I swear this company's hanging on by a proverbial thread at this point but hey management is still getting their bonuses while us grunts get shafted.

Anyway I got home and my Love surprised me by telling me she's coming home for the weekend, I still think driving ~300 miles for only two days off is a bit of a waste but I'm going to be so glad to see her nonetheless.

"Netflix and Chill" with my Love. <3

Just kidding, we're just chillin' in the A/C and watching some YouTube videos. Well partially, there have been small talk of seeing what's new on Netflix...

I overcame the trifecta of overtraining, which then became compounded by testing positive for coronavirus 21 days ago and running a full marathon at high altitude today. Was able to finish in 5:29 in my first ever Saturday marathon. Was happy just to finish.

That's what I'm doing right now. Worked 2:30am-3pm, and I just found out My Love is here for another day (she's heading back to work tomorrow night) and I don't have to work tomorrow so we're going to enjoy ourselves tonight. Of course for us lame people that likely just means a nice dinner and a Blu-ray or two. Picked up some beer and some meats to throw on the grill. The hardest part I'm sure will be choosing a movie, I'm sure.

You’re describing what we do; hahaha!

We’re heading out to see a movie. Love going to movies here in The City in their excellent theaters. You guys that live close to them don’t realize what you got!

Congrats! Keep after it!
Having been infected twice last year, I was unsure how it would affect my endurance for workouts/bike rides. The first few rides were a little more challenging as I still wasn't fully recovered, but about a month later I was firing on all cylinders physically once again.

I still think there are some lingering psychological/neurological issues and my sense of smell/taste still have not been fully restored back to what it was prior to Covid. I can taste and smell most things like I recall, but some tastes and smells that once had unique differentiation between them all have nearly identical smells/tastes now.
For example; onion, fuels, some cleaning agents, hot coffee and some other things emit the same/similar odor for me now. Coffee is the heartbreaker. I always loved the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning, now it hits my nostrils similar to a harsh cleaning agent or gasoline.

Yeah I can tell the main symptoms are gone but the effects on my cardiovascular system lasted longer than I thought they would. I probably resumed running after my positive test too soon (only waited a week) but I'd say being able to finish the second most difficult course I've ever run in 5:29 means I'm recovering quickly. Won't run again till Thursday and going to scale back the overall running for awhile until I feel like I'm close to normal again.

Most people probably wouldn't have attempted a full marathon so soon but I've been running for 6 years and I've finished 15 full marathons, I can usually tell if I'm in good enough shape to attempt 26.2 miles.

Man I hear ya. Where I live we have one theater about 20min away (there's one closer but they have weird weekend-only showtimes) I've been there once but I really didn't care for it. There's a better one about an hour away, ~60miles, that is pretty sweet and even signed up for their movie rewards club thing which gets us discounted concessions and even free showings. Wish it was closer especially with these high gas prices. Doesn't nearly compare to the one I used to frequent in my home town in upstate NY though.

OT: Having a few cold brews and listening to some music while my Love does her thing in the other room. I should probably prep the ribs for the grill, I picked up some "made in Kentucky southern spice rub" from the local grocer, I don't have a clue whats in it (I usually scope out the ingredients before I buy something new since She has food allergies). I was also going to make a homemade pasta salad for a side but I guess her (baked) sweet potatoes and store-bought macaroni salad will suffice. Oh well, time to pick out a movie !!

You may already be familiar with various amino acids and their use in recovery/treatment for athletes, but just wanted to add that NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine), a semi-essential amino acid had proven itself to be helpful for me in my recovery from Covid and getting back on track with riding. Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor Just saying since it's known for assisting with liver/lung function, which can be compromised during covid infections.

MONDAY:

11 Hours 58 Minutes until RAW.

I finally ordered that frame for my hardcover graphic novel lastnight which of course opened the gateway to order the Matthews Magic Finger Arm for my C-stand.

Having some coffee that My Love was kind enough to make for me as I slept in this morning. I swear she does more in the morning than most people do all day. I don't know where she gets her energy from, all without stimulants no less.

Happy Monday,y'all! I might go out to clean out the truck (again, its a never ending process!) and take it down to the car wash to power wash it so I can finally patch the gaping rust hole that formed in the cab corner. Northeastern truck problems

Was supposed to go golfing today but we've had some rain. Pretty much a chill day which is always good for a Monday. I'll likely continue with my annual Game of Thrones summer binge! It was such a great show until the last two seasons. It's incredible how quickly the hype died once it finished in '19. Nobody talks about it anymore. It likely won't live on like The Sopranos does. I reckon it will get a boost with all the spin off shows though.

Also just found out the Bram Stoker's Dracula will be getting a Steelbook release in DV 4K so that's pretty sweet!
