I love me some lasagna. My late wife would often tell me my lasagna was the second best she ever had, second to my Mom's who I could never replicate.

Trying to relax after a ten day disruption to my life that some people call a family vacation. Four generations in a 15-passenger van. An eighteen hour drive. Each way. It was like the freakin' Griswolds on steroids. And once you're anywhere near the House of Mouse, chit gets crazy fast, mang. $145 for for lunch. $400 for dinner. $1,000 for admission to an alternate park when the Not-So-Magic *%&^$# Kingdom is CLOSED the entire week we were there (I let someone else plan the entire thing. Never again).

And I drove almost the entire way, each way, without more than a few short stops. My body is still decompressing from having so much damn "fun". There are simply not enough "party favours" to relieve me. Oh, and I paid for almost all of it, too.

Picked up a 2007 Honda Pilot

I've owned Honda's and Acura's most of my life. They're great cars and the engines go 200k no problem.

The Pilot is a nice ride. Enjoy it!

Eating some macaroni & cheese for dinner and going to watch some YouTube videos. I'm starting with a night vision of Berlin and will do some other travel videos before checking out some sports ones. After that I'll surf a bit and then probably place a store-pickup order for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Arrow release) at Barnes & Noble.

Congratulations buddy! Did you buy it at a dealer or was it a private sale? I'm in the market for a new or used car myself. I have my eye on the 2022 Mazda3 but they're in short supply (in the trim that I want) around here.

I got it at a local Toyota Dealer ( it was someones trade-in ), 2007 Honda Pilot with 129K miles.
They had it advertised at $11K, I bought it for $8K...
It has a couple MINOR and I stress MINOR issues that are completely fixable...
( The front and back ends of the headliner need to be re-glued into place, which is the BIGGEST issue, and no mechanical issuse so far )

This Pilot was the BEST ONE with THE LEAST issues for the money I had come across.
And they really didn't want me to go, I literally had my little black bag full of cash with me ( and I made sure they knew that was the cash )
and they wanted to make the deal happen so bad.

The whole time I was playing it cool, not seeming too eager but also interested in it, but with other suv's on my list.
I had the Clipboard with the printouts of the other SUV's with me ( as if to make notes on it about the Pilot, which I did )
And I let them now I had another SUV I really wanted to look at before making a decision... ( part true, part bluff... I really liked the pilot )
They were Like, "We're here for you, we want you to be happy, we want to make this work,
what can we do to make this deal right now"..... So they dropped their offer for the $11K Honda Pilot from $9.5k
( which was their CASH IN HAND DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT PRICE ) down an additional $1.5K to $8K, which made me very happy

Now I again have something that has a big enough cargo area for hauling stuff )

It's replacing our 2002 Mazda 626 ( under 88K miles on it ) I never liked the seat in it ( to hard for my back )
We got it from a family member ( fair condition and dirt cheap ) just to have a 2nd car till I bought another SUV ( which was 5 years ago now better late than never ).
I did all the maintenance on the Mazda and fixed it up, so now it is in great shape a fun car to drive, with a driver seat I still hate

My neighbor said he wants it, so I'll more than likely sell it to him for $1,7K

This is the first day I'm actually starting to feel better.

I broke my rule and brought in one of my C-Stands to make a job easier today.

Here's hoping everything goes smoothely.

Freaking mice have begun moving into my car for the winter. It's always a fight but really tough when it sits in the garage all winter. Tried dryer sheets and moth balls but they still got in last winter. Temps are dropping now so I keep finding acorns all over the engine bay.

Just got back from taking the car on a spirited fall drive. Roads are a bit wet so I didn't want to push it as my tires need to be replaced. Hoping all the mice ran out...didn't see any when I started it. I'll be leaving the car outside and putting glue traps and poison in the garage.

Not sure if it actually works or not but my brother swears by peppermint oil for his past field mice troubles. He lives out in the middle of nowhere, in upstate NY where it gets plenty cold in the winter time. I personally don't like using rat poison because the rodents eat it, and go off to die so you're left with the trouble of finding the carcass later on and dealing with the dead rodent smell in the process. Glue traps..well they work pretty well but in my experience of country living we caught more than just mice in them so something to be aware of if you live out in the sticks.

OT: Had a couple mixed drinks last night so I'm feeling a little foggy today. Finishing this cup of Joe and think I'm gonna shower and run some errands. I'm debating on going camping tonight

I have heard about the peppermint oil trick. Maybe I'll try that but the stuff seems expensive and only sold in small bottles.
