Listening to the incredible new album by the innocence mission titled Midwinter Swimmers. It's their best work in almost 30 years, is the best album of the year, and is in the top 3 albums to come out in the last 15 years. It's in the top ten of the 20 years easily, too. Most of the innocence mission albums are pretty darn excellent. However, this one harkens back a bit to their A&M years. For me they lost a bit of that magic that they had on the first 3 albums when they decided to go to home recording. The sound got more twee, subtle, and soft. Which isn't bad, per se. But when they were a four piece rocking out, very few could rival them.

On Midwinter Swimmers, they get back to that side of themselves a little bit. There is a lot more of a jaunty, punchy melody to their work now. It's not like Umbrella (their best record) or anything, but it has more punch than previous works. They prove to me why they have become part of my top 5 artists of all time. I would even say top 3, perhaps. Their sound may have changed which in turn made their discography a little weaker. But they've still put out amazing records. I will admit that other artists may have better discographies and even single albums. But there is something undeniable about this group. Their current sound they've been doing over the least 25 years is not usually what raises my flag pole up all the way.

But, still there is something about them I cannot explain that grabs me. Plus, they've put out one of the top ten best albums of all time. Beating out a whole host of luminous albums by some of the best. They really deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their music may not have changed the course of rock and roll, but what they did in the last 25 years with their career has TOTALLY reshaped the music industry and how artists can have careers. They've spent the last 25 years recording music from their home, putting out albums every so often, and maintaining a dedicated following despite not doing the usual industry round of things.

No promotional jaunts, no talk show/late night show appearances, no touring, and sticking to their sound they have been cultivating for those last 25 years. They have proven that you can have A career in music without having to do all the usual music industry stuff that goes with it. They were Bandcamp before Bandcamp was even a thing. In fact, their latest album proves this very notion. The CD version is really just a CDr, but it is loving packaged with beautifully artwork and even more beautiful music. Proving that you don't have to spend a lot to put something out in a record store. Doing it for the love of the passion that you have burning inside you. Giving people such as myself REAL hope.

I feel your pain. I once had the Flu back to back two years in a row. And in the some month each year. I first got the flu in November of 2005 and then got the Flu once again in November of 2006. It was awful. Even worse was the fact that during one of those times with the Flu, I woke up with the TV on Nip/Tuck and Rosie O'Donnell completely naked. Not to mention the fact that for the last two years I have had Covid a total of 4 times. with two of those times back to back within a month of each other.

[Show spoiler]Yeah, I had them all within 45 minutes probably. I would have finished a little sooner but I took the bus so had a little weight after BK.

I’m ready for my motorcycle. I’m not sure the OTD price but I’m assuming maybe $20K give it take. Unfortunately my credit scores, according to CreditKarma, dropped about 30 points but I’m still above 715. Not sure how much of a difference that would make. I can either buy soon with $5K down or wait until Spring and have more to put down. I am eager to ride!🏍️
I'm sure I have terrible fashion sense. I mean, I could have good fashion sense, but I choose not to I guess. I mostly dress for comfort and not for looking like a GQ/Playgirl Model. i get hot too easily which doesn't help. And I don't feel super comfortable in a lot of clothing. The less the better for me. If there was a way i could be naked without being TOTALLY naked, i would do that. On top of all that, I look like a pregnant lesbian. So, it's hard to have great fashion sense due to that.

About to eat my morning snack and start the oven to bake lunch. Also going to do more laundry and play some Metaphor Refantazio. Should probably make time today to read System of the World.

Day 4 of going through my steelbooks and posting them on ebay. I'm out of the steelbook business. Only keeping the ones that have sentimental value and the ones I think are particularly striking.

Hey, it's raining out and I took the bus. Can you come pick me up at Mountain Mike's in Sunnyvale and drive me to Santana Row?

I'm going to slip on a piece of pepperoni (a big piece) and come visit you when I get stitches

I don't think I would have taken my car if it was raining lightly before I left home but it would have made me rethink taking PT at least.

TUESDAY:

Slow day at the office.

I think I'm going to get food today.

I'm having a hard time finding the right Olive Oil for under the tree for Mom this year.

At the mall where I got a Christmas card for my parents at Hallmark. I hit up See’s Candies to get them a box and then got some Theraflu at Target. I’m sitting in the food court right now. I have my anger management class today and forgot to do the homework from last week. I didn’t know that Kraven The Hunter is out already. I’d like to see it. Plan on seeing Nosferatu in the theater next week or the week after.

I’m going to do my online class at Olive Garden and do their neverending soup and breadsticks at the same time. sfmarine passed the flu on so thanks for that. Wouldn’t mind sitting this class out and seeing a movie or just getting some popcorn.

Should've gotten the flu shot!

About to leave my sister's house to get the coffee maker ready for tomorrow and read and play more Metaphor Refantazio before bed.

Lucky stiff! I'd imagine though, if that picture is your scenario, you are already stiff. And I would bet donuts to dollars that it's over that picture of Leia in that skimpy outfit from Return of The Jedi.

Batman's right. I always get the Flu shot and I don't get the Flu. I just can't seem to avoid Covid. Talk about a ball and chain. LOL.
