Probably finish up at Costco and then either head home or maybe go back to Cycle Gear again.
I've always liked San Jose, although I haven't been up there in a while since college at SJSU and my IBM days in the late 90s. IBM had a facility in neighboring Santa Teresa (not sure if it's still there) that was a couple of miles off the beaten path. I remember you had to go around a bend, and the facility was tucked in between some hills. It was a gorgeous drive to get there. The facility had a piazza level, and if memory serves had a small stream, bridge, trees, seating areas, etc., and there were data ports (pre wifi) you could hook up to if you wanted work from out there. It was like a utopian scene from a movie lol.

Anyway, hope you had a good ride and are enjoying the new toy!

Yeah, it's not too bad here. I'm pretty sure that I know the IBM facility. That was actually where I first got the idea that led me to getting a motorcycle. I was trying to make it up the hill on my mountain bike...I had never been up there before...and I couldn't make it. I often try not to downshift when I'm riding. I try to do it myself and not rely too much on the bike. Anyway, couldn't make it and it made me think of an E-bike and then that led to thoughts of getting a Vespa or another kind of scooter and that led to getting the idea for a motorcycle.

I believe that I rode by one of the entrances for the facility today. I didn't know it was there but there was a sign that said IBM. I'll have to check on Google maps. I'll post a few pics from today's ride in this thread tomorrow or later today

Been busy today packing for my big move this weekend, I lost a week due to an infection/illness. I reserved a Uhaul trailer for Friday, which is also my last work day here in Kentucky. I didn't think I really had much as I've been decluttering for months, but as I get closer, I swear stuff is starting to come out of nowhere.

Going to bed before tomorrow's shift. FINALLY nearing the end of the 8 novel Baroque Cycle. Hopefully one of the jobs I applied to last Friday will call me soon.

Cool, didn't know there were trails up there! But I also wouldn't have been looking as i didn't get into mountain biking until shortly after that trip to IBM. I've been wanting to revisit that area. It's on the list whenever we get to our trip up there. But that probably won't happen this year. If it does it'll be late Fall.

Where are the pics?

The road up to the IBM facility is a paved road but there are some parks in the area. You have Santa Teresa county park, Calero and Quicksilver all pretty close to each other. You don't even need to take your car out to them. You could take the bus and ride to them if you wanted to. The IBM facility I passed yesterday was a different one not too far from the research facility. You will definitely need to get back up here when you get a chance. I was about to say again how I can't wait to get up to the mountains for the first time this year. I could go this weekend, Monday and Tuesday for me, but Highway 108 isn't open all the way so I'll probably wait until it is. I'm hoping it opens in May. It kind of sucks that this area that I love so much is accessible for only about six months out of the year. I suppose it could be accessible year-round if you had a snowmobile or at least you might be able to get further after they've stopped plowing.

Anyway, here is the IBM research lab on the right and then the facility that I passed yesterday is on the left. You can see Santa Teresa Park in between the two. I have only been to the park twice and didn't really explore as much as there is to see so I'll have to get back. I'm hoping to get out for my first bike ride in several months in the next few days. We'll see...

Listening to The Sundays' Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic on vinyl trying to wind down before bed. Wondering what will the world bring me next. Getting too much out there for my own good. Need to distract.

I remember now it was the research facility that I visited for a week of training. I scoped out the area on google maps and also took to the street view, and looks like there's some trails up there.

Yeah, I went through a similar progression with bikes, but I ended up with a eMountain Bike (Specialized Levo). I haven't looked back. We will be bringing our bikes when we do that road trip, hopefully by next Spring if not this Fall.

Looking at this pic....I would expect Bilbo, Frodo and/or Sam to come popping out. It almost doesn't look real to be honest, but those are some nice views you got out there.
