Damn, gorgeous! I'm not worthy enough to play/own one of those lol. I'm still playing an ol' trusty Yamaha FG 700 series.

Funny you say that cuz those very same thoughts plagued me throughout this entire process. I've since resigned myself to the notion that I'm neither of them, but I'm also tired of second guessing myself, so I went for it. Anyway, since it's a limited edition and has already been retired by Martin with no plans of further production (based on a convo Martin had with John Mayer), whatever's out there is all there is so...

Lol that sounds exactly like me, and I totally understand why it took you a while to make a decision. I've never even touched a guitar anywhere near that category!

Either way congrats sir!

McIntosh called me today. For those out of the loop…they’re a high-end/premium audio brand (now owned by Bose) but based in the US. Everything is assembled at their factory in Binghamton, NY. Their clients include Jimmy Fallon, Walton Goggins, Bob Weir, Jack Nicholson and the late Steve Jobs.

They’re known for their amps and signature blue meters.

So they’ve made several media players going back to the Laserdisc days along with a few DVD player iterations and lastly, 3 different Blu-ray players. I purchased one of their players *used* a few years ago. It was never perfect but played Blu-rays without any issues. When it came to playing DVDs & SACD…not so much.

She’s over engineered and quite beefy along with a glass front. Truly beautiful to see in person.

It crapped out on me and I sent it to a guy in CT but he was useless and complained he couldn’t fix it or get parts. I reached out to McIntosh and I think it depends on who you talk to but I was told they also could not fix the player. I found a brand new disc transport on eBay and decided to buy it. I messaged the dude in CT but he still didn’t want to work on it lol.

I decided to contact McIntosh again but call vs. email. They told me they would take it but it would take a while. I dropped the player off with the new transport and they called me today with the estimate. They said I should have it within a week. It only took a year lead time.

Def excited to have it back soon and fully functional.

Pretty stoked to get it back. Shoutout to Wabo- another Mc owner acting as my support group. It’s been a long process.

Hope to have a nice update next week when it’s back in my possession.

Speaking of Fender, I got my first acoustic around that time, I think it was around '96. I was at Fender HQ in Corona, CA, picking up a DG3 acoustic. My sister worked for them at the time and got me a killer discount (no joke, I still remember it was $42 out the door - with a case, and retailed for around $350). Alanis Morissette was in town on tour that same week and I had tickets to see her at the Greek Theater in L.A.. Well, turns out after I left, my sister calls me and says, "Hey you just missed Alanis Morissette, she got here about 20 mins after you left." She was playing a Fender on stage, which I assume was the one she picked up.

That's awesome, great story!

But yeah, the mark up on this stuff is wild. A buddy of mine's MiL used to work for Harman International and they used to have a friends and family deal every year across their entire product line. I got two Infinity floor standers that retailed for $1K a pair for like $250. I actually still have them, love those speakers (even though they're currently not connected).

Nice. Infinity was my first set of "real" speakers back in the 90s. I forget which model, but they were floor standers as well. I remember wanting some Kappa's for my truck back then too, but I was a poor college student at the time. But damn they're pricey these days, I looked into them when I upgraded my current truck's system in '21 but passed. After all these years I can finally afford them, but I didn't want to afford them lol.

I'm just a Proud dad today. Everyday I am of my kids, but today especially. They took part in their first ever youth golf outing. My daughter had zero interest, and did it mainly for me, and I know she won't do it again. But she did well. She won a set of Titleist golf balls for making one of the longest putts in the competition. She also got a box of 2024-25 NBA mega box of Dunruss cards. Now she is attempting to sell both... which might be me lol!

My son, who I love to tease that someday will be a golfer (I like to watch it on TV and he always attempts to change the channel) took first place of the whole competition with his paired partner and mentor. He won a youth golf bag (very nice), plus a free round of golf for 4 people and 2 carts at a nearby golf course. Can't believe it!!

All kids at the outing were fed free Texas Roadhouse, along with a free shirt, a 3-pack golf balls, some golf tees, and 3 free apps for later use at Texas Roadhouse.

I think I won here

Hex yeah, amigo!

There's light at the end of the tunnel and it's green with blue meters.

I know this has been a long strange journey for you. But in less than 2 winks of a coal miners eye you're gonna have a kick ass player up and running. This will call for long distance internet shots.

I didn't know it was in the shop. Nothing like missing your toys when they're in the hospital, but glad to hear some good news is on the horizon.

Another proud moment...

My daughter (12) took it upon herself to write a letter recommending her favorite teacher to win an award. It was a beautifully written letter that she did all on her own. She did this at the end of the school year, so back in May.

Here we are, about to start the new school year (7th grade!), well - she has been notified that her letter was chosen, meaning her teacher has won the award, from over a few hundred submissions. My daughter on Friday will stand on stage, reading this letter for the entire district staff to hear, and the teacher will be awarded her award and $1,000! The teacher has no idea any of this is happening.

I'm not sure you understand, but there's no shredding on an acoustic guitar. It wouldn't hold up to the pressure. Now if you plugged it into GarageBand you can shred, but not naturally. Plus, playing an acoustic guitar is unforgiving. You have to know what you're doing to play acoustic. Or hide it very, VERY well. There's no room for mistakes or amateurs (AT BEST) on an acoustic.

WOW!!!! I love Alanis Morissette. She's a very underrated guitar player. As is Susanna Hoffs, Liz Phair, and Edie Brickell. So many woman are underrated in the field of guitar playing, which really sucks. Speaking of Fender, I SO want to get one of their Acoustasonic guitars. They've got a video of Liz Phair playing one. They look so cool and they sound incredible. A guy was playing on one at the wedding for one of my Brother-in-law's sons. The wedding was at Telluride. It was at the reception and the guy was amazing. Much better than the DJ they had later.
