Note to gkolb, the aviator piloting the jet is Vern, Tom can’t do 2 things like that at once

documenting I was there at 'the pole' is certainly safer than giving away the entire plot of the freakin flick

Anyway, since you mentioned it, not only #8 (Liam), I also like #5 on the list too - https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=82&story=4154

As you may not get her over there on TV in the U.K. though, she’s a pretty fine journalist covering the Prem league for us U.S.A. folks.

Not sure if this is the place to put this, but here it goes. This is going to sound crazy, but I'm realizing I don't think I like the HDR experience. Unless something is wrong with my Sony X900E, I think the picture is too dark even in a pitch black room on nearly all of the 4k discs I own. I've tried playing with everything and unless I turn up artificial color setting like Live Color to max, I'm not happy with it. I've elected to just turn HDR off.

I've looked at discs like Solo among others and it's hard to make out any detail and I'm not getting the deep colors that some rave about with HDR. Turning HDR off, I immediately see a decrease in the integrity of the blacks and shadow detail, but the picture is overall more pleasing to the eye and, honestly, looks more like what I remember in the theater for some of these movies.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Solo is a very dark film and I kinda prefer the HD version. Try some of the recent Marvel movies like Thor and Avengers. The HDR is fantastic.

Since some of you guys are interested in perspective as to some of the shots in Top Gun: Maverick, like this past one -

before the above ^ scene, scouting the ocean backdrop from the viewpoint of the camera operator at the exact same spot (street post as marker)
(opposite direction for your guys’ perspective, without the talent in frame) –

later on I’ll try to outline with lines, circles and such a satellite view to geographically show aerially exactly where/what I mentioned in post #7424 - “taxiing out to runway 11/29 for the side-by-side shoot”.

Meanwhile, for those who don’t like to learn about filmmaking involving motorcycles or jets, work on this -
https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Bugatti-Chiron-42083

Inspired by the full-size project -

or, for you TV fanatics, who change-out every couple of years, the teasing has already begun…. https://www.engadget.com/2018/11/27/...r-lg-ces-2019/

....for those who have been following this thread for the past several years, you’ll know I, for one, after HDR, am most interested in (and have been patiently waiting for all the ducks to get in place) for this next-gen TV feature - https://www.engadget.com/2017/05/16/...ts-broadcasts/.

Enough for now, work beckons.

They think I tore my meniscus. The MRI is to find out for sure. Happened back in August. I've been ignoring using my super powers of self healing but I tell ya, like my get up and go, my super self healing powers got up and went. It got to be too much and I eventually conceded and went in. Getting old.

Knew that Greengrass was a Palace fan, I had to lol when reading an interview with Matt Damon and he said he took the piss out of Greengrass for being a Palace fan. It's our lot in life.
