I do this often and it's pretty fast with CUDA acceleration.

Answer me something please, o encoding guru: do you guys master stuff at full levels (not talking just about HDR but regular SDR too) by default and then map it across to limited prior to the final encode? I keep hearing conflicting things about this, some say yes but then others mock the idea. I don't see why we'd get certain video levels problems which can sometimes be worked around by changing the levels if that wasn't the case, but I've always wanted to get a straight answer from a pro.

I’ve chimed in, same for 2themax, now where’s Ovi ????? as we’re nowhere near 100,000 views for this month….the monthly pulse is thready at only 66,000 views and only one day left ! What the heck, do we all need to speak Romanian in order to encourage your involvement here these days?

My free time’s pretty much tied up for a couple days now in selecting a modern day necessity (a new dishwasher, cause ours died) and dishwasher reviews on the internet are as contradictory as some UHD Blu-ray movie reviews, plus I don’t trust kitchen home appliance salesmen/women much in general either. Luckily, I’ve found some info from helpful friends here.

I'm quite sure that, at the dishwasher.com forums, there's a Geoff D-style Armchair Expert™ just waiting to help you on your quest

See if you can de-blur it as I’ve got more permanent scars on me than Jason Bourne.

Just get a few bots to come to this forum. If you don't know how to do this just get Russian help.

I think Wile E. Coyote saw Christmas dinner and was hoping to add to the scars.

New to 4k just started upgrading my equipment.

Regarding hdr... is the effect added by the tv or source... and part two of that question if it is source based do some 4k bluray not have hdr ? I notice some don't mention hdr on the covers.

Ah! Sorry, only just read it. Wouldn't be able to get the time off work anyway

Welcome! Effect? That's a bit like asking "is the colour effect added by the TV or the source", or "is the surround sound effect added by the speakers or the source".

We're not colourising black and white movies when we watch a colour movie, to have some "colour effect" added.
In the same way, HDR is not "added". It's "in" the source just like colour pictures and stereo sound is in there.

Nearly all 4K Blu-Rays do have HDR. You've been very unlucky if you have bought one of the few without.

Only have 3 movies so far and all had the hdr sticker on the covers. To clarify while looking at the amazon titles here on the site I notice quite a few movies don't have the hdr sticker on the pic does that mean they dont have hdr?

I noticed LG tv's have a picture mode called hdr, can be set to low medium and high. This is what confused me as well.
