A quick poll of the audience showed that < 50 percent watched the PyeongChang Olympics in HDR. This can be improved upon by content deliverers with time.

Believe me ‘Big Johnny’, Costa Mesa is not LA - https://twitter.com/BigJohnnyArcher/...29848759242752
Nor, for that matter, is Buena Park

The L.A. Chapter of SID does occasionally get out of LA County .

Expounding further upon a picture quality discussion we had from last August – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post13937653

And a new slogan for a T-shirt...

No CAT scanners

No TrueMotion

see next to the last paragraph - https://ascmag.com/articles/realds-t...e-rate-options

P.S.
just wondering what a spiral CAT scanner would look like emblazoned on a T-shirt?

Accounting note:
So, for the month of February we tallied a total (rounded) of 68,000 views for this thread. Not bad. Congrats to all the viewers and contributors…https://forum.blu-ray.com/misc.php?d...osted&t=276605. I guess it’s still possible for us to join the million and over viewership club threads before we completely run out of steam.

I know you're joking , but to be clear to others, we don’t want their type of state sponsored meddling here on Blu-ray.com; plus, looks like they’re too busy anyway with other things to even update their bombing Florida gulf coast animation videos from 2015https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcpSzX9a7HY#t=27m3s

better duck gkolb, ronjones and anyone else in the vicinity

I couldn’t get to see the dirt bike footage at the Alexa LF Hollywood launch at Paramount Pictures (https://twitter.com/ARRIChannel/stat...55436219478017), so c’mon Arri, share it publicly on your channel!

And I believe this sample short is presented in HDR (if anyone with YouTube HDR capability could please confirm):

Wondering what you might be seeing?, e.g. if the content is in Dolby Vision or not, see +3 and use it for discovery…..https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfo/ChangeLog

Is ICtCp being used in the Dolby Vision Display Management?
Thanks

For those who have devices that support HDR on YouTube, check out this demo that's been uploaded in both HDR10 and HLG. A good comparison between the two. HDR10 version has deeper contrast and richer colors, while HLG looks slightly brighter overall, but the colors look a bit washed out in comparison.

HDR10:

SONYNAB SHOW 2018 SAMPLE 1 HDR 10 BT 2020 Color 10 Bit - YouTube

HLG:

SOND NAB SHOW 2018 SAMPLE 1 HYBRID GAMMA HDR HLG - YouTube

Watched these on my Galaxy S8+, HLG does indeed work on my phone. Your assessment is spot on. The hdr10 looks much more vibrant and more 3d looking. HLG is slightly washy looking here. Some of the little blue fish tho had some extreme vibrancy though.

Regarding Walter’s thoughts about HDR….kinda makes one admire the visionary stance of Netflix, no? And as far as what worries him, “quantity vs. quality”, isn’t that applicable to many things related to business these days?

P.S. off topic - I’m at halftime of CP v ManU (recorded) and wondering if Hodgson’s boys can hold on for 3 points.

Note to Tom and, for that matter, ray, that above comparison does not speak out for HLG….

Bottom line. Because it has its benefits especially with broadcast sports , I too like HLG as evidenced by multiple posts I’ve made here on Blu-ray.com in the past particularly in discussion with Richard Paul, Geoff, et al. dating back to the time the subject was introduced in various HDR proposals (USA proposal based upon SMPTE ST-2084, Philips Yuv proposal, BBC Gamma plus Log proposal and NHK Shifted Gamma proposal - check old postings in this or other threads) at the Rappateur’s Group meeting at ITU in February of 2015……but fact is, PQ grades better than HLG.

Bonus question to LordoftheRings, wake up! – what's the white striped orange fish swimming safely in the sea anemone?
