Open to the public I think tomorrow at 11:00 A.M. showing the feature Ready Player One.
Oui as to cinema LED screen.
Penton,

Are they playing a regular DCI spec DCP? Or is it a special grade? And if it is regular, I assume it does something like a normal TV raising the brightness when playing 48 nit SDR on a 500 nit screen? Is fullscreen diffuse white 100 nits?

[Show spoiler]Initial full length feature showings to the public will likely be SDR DCI DCPs. In time, it’s hoped that special HDR grade deliverables will be regularly produced now that there is also a local post facility capable of doing so by having all the software and hardware equipment in place including a 2K Samsung direct LED screen in its DI suite which is an important component to do it properly.

Sunday perspective from a good friend of mine, Neda (who, from the time of this YouTube clip has since moved on from Doheny at USC to a busy private practice in the Beverly Hills area)….

Learning points for videophiles having a take-for-granted approach to their excellent vision -

1. Get routine eye exams to check for increased intraocular pressure as that pounding can destroy your retina as well as your cornea over time and lead to a needed DSEK or DMEK (types of corneal transplants) way sooner than when you become a grandfather or grandmother.
2. Wear protective eye wear during sports activities like when riding your bike, etc..

Geoff, mrtickleuk et al. it’s not the launch of a new cinema experience, but it doesn’t require a special invite either - https://sci-fi-london.com/

Although I favor the Sony Crystal LED solution because I believe it is superior, I admit I hold a soft spot in my heart for the Samsung Cinema LED solution for including this portion of the clip in their promotion material from last year….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eumy1HB4wxs#t=23s

And yeah folks, the rider’s wearing eye protection.

Off now for a group ride with some guys and gals, then wees watch Arsenal v. West Ham.

The odeon website sez that "something special is coming" and if it's not Smell-O-Vision then it'd better bloody well be Dolby Vision. Then we'll have the grand total of.....one.

During the Comcast Watchathon week I viewed two shows in HDR and I was very much impressed with the picture quality. I thought the use of HDR added considerably to the viewing experience. The two shows I watched were Altered Carbon and Lost In Space.
