It most certainly is not. If the colour timing of a source remains as close to the directors intent, then all rec 2020 does with increased colour bit depth is allow for greater representation of shades of a particular colour.
In terms of dynamic range, I don't think it's possible to add any more points of dynamic range to a source than what already exist. |

That's called a "strawman" argument. Instead of using what he did say, you have rephrased it into something subtly different which he didn't say, and then you've argued against that.

How can you tell how many nits your TV is capable of producing? I had to tweak the hell out of Westworld S2 but it looks really nice now. Dolores looks great under either sparkling rays of sunshine or deep in the tunnels. She is a murderous wench but in her defense she has seen the truth after all.

Besides, film’s dynamic range have always been higher in range compared to Bluray’s SDR anyway.

There's no requirement to completely fill all of rec.2020 and 10,000 nits. Having that larger container available for use, and then for the experts to be able to "unlock" a more accurate version from the original film should they choose so to do, is a wonderful thing. |

Ah, ok, thanks. By tweaking I mean just adjusting the UHD settings for my TV. There is a setting called "Full UHD Color" that kept messing things up each time I selected it. I think the app may be sketchy but I have to live with it. I got it figured out now. Trial and error.
