Ask Wabo, he watches more NFL than I do. I’m guessing some on-the-field reporter/journalist for one of the networks?

Well anyway, despite the apparently mixed outcomes with streaming apps, etc., the good thing is that such broadcast(s) may serve to increase the awareness of HDR to the otherwise unfamiliar with, typical TV watcher who is a hard-working stiff and doesn’t follow video-related forums like members here do.

Might even be better if Fox and others specifically promoted the benefits of WCG and extended dynamic range on its own as a video parameter separating it from static (4K) resolution which already gets enough face time in the press and at local retailers the way it is and is so dependent upon delivered bit rate to begin with for which I’m thinking there was a variability among MPVDs for the Super Bowl broadcast.

Seems not only for Christmas, New Years, etc. many take Super Bowl Sunday off.

Needn’t be as extensive as this - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post11024431 , but as it may get a bit technical probably best to bolt something down on paper for accuracy.

Hopefully CBS will show next year's game in HDR, at least on their CBS Sports app.

I missed the webinar live today, however to supplement the question asked/answered here -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGdDKqV36GY#t=34m38s

That ^ is all correct Jason , but commercially, fact of the matter is that the industry, be it in North America like with the Super Bowl, or across the pond even with BT Sport using an S-Log3 live camera mode for acquisition, is converging on an HLG type converter workflow which is why I said this a few pages back –

Sorry for the confusion. I thought it intuitive I’ve been lazily using the term 'broadcast' generically for the show itself. Not as to differentiate between streaming, linear, FiOS, satellite, etc. delivery feeds.

Next ‘show’ (afaik the world feed being 720p SDR), this Sunday and there are already street closures in Hollywood for it (the Oscars) which I forgot about during lunch.

Right, but did anyone outside of the US get those either? AFAIK there was no legit way for a UK viewer to have watched the Superbowl in 4K HDR at all.

Canadians, eh? They could put sone back bacon in their touks like little 4K antennas. Lol. Seriously tho, I’m surprised you guys across the pond didn’t get this in 4K. Especially with the NFL trying to increase their presence there. Do you get other sporting (local) events in 4K HDR?

Wasn't officially available in 4K HDR in Canada, but I was able to stream it from the Fox Sports app using Express VPN, which I guess isn't entirely "legit," but it was a simple setup and it worked.

Not a lot. The BBC have done a few trials with HLG on sport via the iPlayer app but it's not a regular thing as they hardly have a lot of live sport to begin with, and it's solely IP-based with no TV "broadcasts" at all yet. The BT Sport channel has ramped up their HDR programming but it's yet another monthly subscription to factor in if people want to go that route, and they don't have anything like the portfolio of the main pay-tv operator Sky who have said that they won't be bringing HDR to their 4K output until late 2020 "at the earliest": https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/H...RIHOQ&nobounce (scroll down near the end)

In Spain we have at least one soccer game a week in 4K. I think they are in HDR but my box doesn´t decode hdr, so I haven´t been able to check that. BTW, it is not "broadcast" in the traditional sense, it TV over the internet, if you have optic fiber.

It's fast enough. 200 Mbps. I think I saw a bit rate of around 70 Mbps at one point during the broadcast, and around 30-50 another time, but I only had the advanced stats up very briefly, so I couldn't give you an estimate for the actual average.

Like Brownian said, you could use a VPN and route it that way….not sure what rez/format the BBC stream on BBC iPlayer offered you regular folks, but I do know of at least one BBC R&D employee Londoner who had access to the 4K HDR feed and watched at least some of the game in HDR
