blu-ray sales and ticket sales don't always line up. Sometimes movies that were flops in the theater actually do quite well on home video. I suspect Fantastic Four will be one of those.

Sometimes a dud really is just a dud. I don't believe FF has been included for any other reason than 'let's see if we can get some sales on the back of this new format during that honeymoon period where people will buy any old crap'. I know, because I've been there soooooo many goddamn times, I didn't half buy some shit when DVHS came out.

That said, some of the specs from one of them.
For the non-SMPTE membership who don’t have access to the webinars free-of-charge, a reporter did a summation on the concepts presented regarding the HDR of San Andreas and HDR in general |

Thank you for your input Richard.
The next ITU-T/ISO/IEC Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding meeting for development of the HEVC standard and its format range (RExt), scalability (SHVC), screen content coding (SCC), and HDR extensions, and associated conformance test sets, reference software, and verification testing will be held not too far away from home: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...iott-la-jolla/ Prospero año Nuevo and keep an eye on the document register…..looking forward to discussing the DNA of UHD/4k creation and delivery to consumers with you in coming months. |

I don't begrudge them for releasing any guff Penton, they might as well strike while the iron's hot so they can justify dat paycheck.
[edit] I'm just glad to be avoiding the "MUST BUY ANY OLD COBBLERS BECAUSE IT'S ON [insert new format here]" syndrome this time around. It's a weight off my mind, and my wallet. Last edited by Geoff D; 12-30-2015 at 12:52 AM. |

"With room for 932 people, the TCL IMAX Chinese Theatre is largest IMAX theater in the world in terms of seating capacity. As for the screen itself, it’s the third largest commercial IMAX screen in North America measuring 90 feet by 46 feet." (This is the accurate info) That doesn't detract from his subjective comparison of the two Star Wars showings. No clear winner for him. There are only 9 Dolby Cinema theaters in the U.S. Globally only 13. Personally, the IMAX scene showing the escape from Jakku needs to be seen in IMAX 3D. It was spectacular and had me gripping the armrests of my seat. Go to 11 minutes for actual audience reaction to the 70 MM escape from Jakku IMAX 3D scene at the TCL Chinese during the showing. Were these folks having fun, or what? Last edited by raygendreau; 12-30-2015 at 03:00 AM. |

The candidate ATSC 3.0 video standard has been released and it will support 10-bit HEVC, the Rec. 2020 color space, and 4K at 120 fps. It is good to see that they went with 4K at 120 fps and while that is a high goal that should be possible for consumer video chips by 2017. Also ATSC 3.0 will support HDR but they are still looking at the different options.

Although I guess it might depend on how TCL masked for it. For Interstellar they masked to 1.43 as per Nolan's request, but the screen itself is basically 1.90. |

So we have the 1st launch titles from sony, fox and now warner brothers. Any guesses/hopes from univeral/disney/paramount?
Hoping for jurassic world and maybe furious 7 from universal. Both of those were visually top notch and hdr treatment would really put those into elite status despite the 2k master, filmed with alot of 4k cameras though. Last edited by ray0414; 12-30-2015 at 06:28 AM. |
