So with the passing of the great and talented Phillip Seymour Hoffman, one wonders who will be the new Plutarch Heavensbee.

Non book reader here, how heavy does he feature in the last two movies presumably? Spoiler free please.

No one can fill his shoes. NO ONE. Write him out. Don't replace him.

Not that much so they may have already shot his parts, guess time will tell. They may make Plutarch an off-screen character now for the last two films.

Cool, thanks. Wasn't sure if he evolved into a much bigger deal or not. Having to recast him in the last of a split ending film would be a absolute nightmare.

Filming for part 1 is completed so we should be good there. Part 1 is filming now, maybe he completed his parts.

I'd assume if the last film haven't completed filming, he'll either be written out or killed off off-screen.

Not that it takes away the sadness of Hoffman's death, but I'm glad at least his role in Part 1 is completed.

Having Mockingjay be his final performance is a fitting tribute to a wonderful actor.

In terms of part 2, we still don't know how much of the film was completed at the time of his death.

With shooting for both films back to back starting in September last year, it might be possible that Hoffman finished filming his scenes, if they filmed scenes for both Part 1 and Part 2 at the same time.

I'm trying to remember from reading the last book if PSH part is that important in the end part of the book.

From what I remember he's not really in much of it, so with some careful writing I don't think it will affect the film.

Looks like he completed a lot for part 2 as well and won't delay the movie. He had seven days left of shooting his part for part 2

Lionsgate has released a statement saying that his work in Mockingjay was "substantially complete" and that the release dates for Part 1 & 2 will not be affected. They also stated that he had 7 more days of shooting (I think for Mockingjay Part 2) before actually completing his role in the series.

EDIT: Turns out the article got (re)updated. I guess it was seven days left of filming.

Yes but he won't be replaced which is good that we get to see him in 2 more films

I agree.

I read that they are shooting the films in sequence, so I wonder if they will slightly rewrite to write him out of the film, or give his role in those scenes to someone else (if the scenes are important).

If they are minor scenes, I would vote to cut them.

He finished part one so nothing will be changed there. Part 2 is still up in the air, he did film scenes just nobody knows how much at this point

Glad to see that the film won't be affected by his passing, but it'll still be bitter sweet seeing him in it.

Just a week's worth of filming left for him.

The article posted that there were only 7 days left of filming for Part 2 and most all of his scenes were finished. I don't think they'll have to change much, if anything at all.

It's been a while since I read the books, but Plutarch is in the mix of things right up until the end. The good news is they can work around that with some of the scenes that wrap up his arc. It's not like he's the only one involved with the rebellion against the Capital, so they can have another character(maybe Haymitch) fill in for him.

I feel this is probably going to happen, although we have no idea how many scenes Hoffman had left in those 7 days.

Depending on what Hoffman last completed, I wonder if there's an adequate way to explain Plutarch's absence in the last bit of Part 2.
