He even campaigned to the FCC to reverse their decision for AC-3 to be the DTV standard in favor of DTS, even though DTS had nothing to show at the time (and was the reason they weren't a standard on DVD). "It was very exciting to hold in my hand DTS CDs" is a line I will never forget, in an article on the first AC-3 LaserDiscs where he was forced to admit "didn't sound as bad as he thought they would" (and his guests thought sounded pretty darn good).
My point was since DTS existed at home, it was all DTS all the way

What was said in that statement that wasn't true? (WCG and HDR matter the most)

Bravissimo! Grazie mille.

So, it's definitely 2160p but why the hell has it got DTS-HD to go with the Atmos? And where's the Atmos gone on the HD Blu-ray? Surely Warners aren't going to re-encode the regular discs with DTS just so that the "immersive" audio is only on the UHD disc? That's marketing, folks!

WRONG!

Seems to confirm that similar to Blu-Ray 3D the Ultra HD disc is featureless and all the extras are confined to the standard Blu-Ray. Which is fine as it leaves all the space for the Ultra HD version

Blurays look nothing like DVD's though. The point is the quality is so high already on bluray that resolution can't be a selling factor alone anymore. The industry knows this, hence why more color and HDR are the forefront of marketing now.

You can't really compare 4K to the transition from DVD, it's nowhere near the same. Going from 4:3 tube TV's to flat 16:9 was a huge upgrade itself. There's no similar shift this time.

No, most of them still buy DVDs.

I find it odd that people use the "that's what they said about Blu-ray" argument as if Blu-ray became the dominant format. It did NOT.

Most of the people who criticized Blu-ray really did stay with DVD. That's why DVD is the dominant format...because all the BD naysayers never adopted BD.

Most of the UHD BD naysayers will stick with BD. They won't buy UHD BDs.

I adopt pretty much every format. I'll end up getting UHD BD. But let's not kid ourselves. Most DVD buyers never made the switch to BD...they may well be idiots but, like it or not, it's an indisputable reality that they stuck to their guns. And most of those people criticizing UHD BD will not buy into the new format.

So, yeah..."That's what the DVD owners said about BD"...and they stayed in the majority. And all those people naysaying UHD BD will also prove to be in the majority.

It's like politics...they may not be right, but they will be the majority.

I wonder if it's on a BD-66 or BD-100 ROM.

Like DVDs some are amazing and some plain suck.
Look at some studios and there use of bitrate allocation, some blus are plain ugly

Probably a BD-66 or possibly a BD-50. A 101 minute movie with no extras that comes from a 2k master does not need a BD-100

Like 50gb I don't see 100gb kicking onto releases for a while, more so with Warner and their 2k nonsense

Blu-ray of Lego Movie didn't have Atmos. The back cover is correct. It's the same disc. They ported the DTS-HD MA 5.1 also to the UHD disc...
