I have an LG 43UH6500 and have watched a few 4K-UHD Blu-Ray discs on it via my XBOX ONE S. I've noticed that while HDR does make a huge difference, as it features more vibrant colors and more contrast between various shades of colors, it looks oversaturated at times. This can be observed in Batman v Superman, particularly in the red and orange of explosions, Superman's heat vision, and Doomsday's heat vision; it can also be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse, particularly in the red of Cyclop's optic blast. Is this normal or is it due to an issue with my TV or XBOX ONE S? Is it possibly due to the fact that all of these visual phenomena are CGI effects? Overall, HDR looks much better than SDR and is something that I enjoy, but I find this characteristic to be odd.

It may also be a matter of calibration. We still have yet to see professional UHD Blu-ray calibration discs made available that can compensate for the various flavors of HDR as well as P3 and Rec 2020 color gamuts, etc. |

It is not capable because DCPs don't support variable rates and even if they did, most of the 3D projector systems need a painfully noticeable amount of time to adjust their sync when the projection rate changes. If you want the appearance of 60fps in your 120 DCP, it’s easiest to repeat every frame twice (the later solution you mentioned in your post).

Okay then ![]() “To those who may be hesitant to watch a film with such clarity, Lee reassured, “It's very clear to me that our eyes like details. When the information is sufficient, it's pleasing and relaxing. … When it's not efficient you stare harder and it's frustrating.”, excerpt from http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...source=twitter It’s also clear to pilots and aviators for if you ask them they’ll tell you that they easily prefer viewing 120fps imagery over that of 60fps when training on flight simulators ![]() https://www.christiedigital.com/en-u...tor-projectors It’s also clear to those possessing this (a critical part utilized for optimal functioning of the most complex machine there is on earth)… ![]() rather than this…. ![]() |

This critic gets it - "record this moment", but warning, so as to avoid ruining the plot of the movie before you get a chance to see it, perhaps best to just read the first and last paragraphs of the review….

Not to forget with regards to thee HDR watershed moment, the first theatrically released feature motion picture in HDR was Tomorrowland .
Honorable mention going to the short film “Emma” which was conceived as an HDR project from the get-go and deserved the appendix footnote it received in the October 2015 SMPTE SG HDR Report. |

Dolby vision news. Still no Disney mentioned. Also looks like 6 studios have plans to offer discs with dolby vision. Everybody except fox and Disney. |

I figure that some dedicated movie watchers have already seen Tomorrowland at a commercial theater and or if local, having taken advantage of the unique opportunity, at Dolby’s private theater on Hollywood Blvd., as prompted. So, I’ll forego running the T-land trailer and even if only in SDR ( ![]() Not forgetting this ^ was a short independent film with a humble budget. I’m informed that the entire short film can be viewed for free on Amazon Prime….https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LPG4PRQ |
