Only MKV rips are officially supported. It could work with the original M2TS files, but some frames might go out of sync because FFMS2(frame indexer) is not perfectly frame-accurate with that container. VC-1 isn't frame-perfect either, but HEVC/H.264 mkv should always be frame-accurate as long as you enter the correct frame delay.

At least caps 12 and 21 definitely look "scrubbed"....
![]() Always loved the grain/ noise in cap 21 on bluray. Can't check, if I can live with the changes and make the 4k my goto, yet, as I'm still waiting for my disc to arrive.... |

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum SDR vs HDR comparison
HDR screenshots, in order to view them correctly on Windows, you must use a Chromium browser with Windows HDR enabled, and the brightness slider set to the value of 31. |

Criterion now has the best version for the western market and seems to match reference promo shots exactly, while CG ITA did an excellent job with a more colourful HDR grade, which some people will prefer. Here are some comparisons for anyone curious. When comparing in motion on an LG C2 OLED, I found the CG ITA HDR grade had more contrast between lights and shadows, and substantially more colour which made me think "Pixar look" or video game, while the Criterion USA SDR grade had more refined grain and detail, but with a slightly more subdued, contemplative colour palette, which seems to be the original intention. Both have their merit.
Note: HDR set is intended to be viewed on HDR displays in HDR mode, and SDR Tonemapped set is for SDR displays, both provide different perspectives. I have a hard time believing those that created Flow intended the sky to be flattened like it is in the Criterion screen cap:
https://slow.pics/c/P6PRgGTu?canvas-...image-fit=none Not that I expect the Criterion Echo Chamber to ever admit something is off there if its an accurate capture. lol Last edited by Deadend45; 09-07-2025 at 12:06 PM. |

Don't forget, that is exaggerated when you compare in HDR PQ, here is the same shot tonemapped to SDR. You can have your opinion, but the creator behind the movie recorded a commentary track for that specific release and there are promotional shots that came out before this movie was ever confirmed for physical distribution, that match the Criterion release. Like I said, CG ITA definitely made their HDR grade more colourful and did a nice job, but it's not a high probability that is the "intended" look, given the promo shots and the fact the delivery could have easily been in HDR/DV for Criterion's disc, and it wasn't. Cheers.
