I was surprised by hints that Sony might price this at less than the LG, as I was pretty sure the Sony was better overall (for my purposes). I have not seen these TVs, but judging from Vincent Teoh's reviews and Sony's track record, I'd call this a reasonable premium for them to charge.

If it turns out that LG, for example, slashes their price to $1800 and Sony stays at $4000, the Sony will not sell. I don't think Sony would do that.

Speaking just for myself as an LG C8 owner, I would pay an 18% premium for Sony, because I am tired of the LGs near blacks. I'm not enough in the market to pay either $3.4k or $4k for either, though.

Sony overprices its TVs because of people like you. Could you stop trying to justify Sony's complete corporate greed? BTW, when Vincent did his shootout, that compared the G4, A95L and Samsung S95D, the LG G4 came out on top as the best overall TV. I can now pick up a 77 inch G4 for 3K while the 77 inch A95L is still $4,500.

Ive been hearing about LED “OLED killer” features for years now. Yet OLEDs always win TV of the year. Would not trade my G4 for anything.Deserved to win 2024 TV of the year.

I think phrases like "corporate greed" are unhelpful and inaccurate. Capitalist corporations exist to make money. The only way I can make sense out of calling an inhuman entity "greedy" is if they hurt themselves by setting prices higher than the market will bear. Do you believe a company that large and successful sets their prices by extrapolating from opinions posted on Internet forums? They have rigorous models based on real-world data.

I remember when the Internet was awash with accusations of Sony greed and ineptitude for pricing the PS3 at $599. Even experts were saying they made a terrible mistake. 87 million units and a billion games sold later, with Microsoft announcing they are bowing out of the market after a decline that started with losing out to the PS3, who was right? Sony knows what they are doing and have been proving that longer than most people have been alive.

I saw Vincent's shootout - that's what I was referencing in my post - and that did not include the Sony Bravia II, which is by all accounts an improvement on the A95L.

Roll on 2026 then for Sony's new LED technology. Hopefully the released products will be close to the prototypes in Vincent's video.

I'll be looking for a minimum 75" TV this time next year. Maybe Sony will be in the running...

Corporate greed is appropriate here. I'm not against making profit. However, when you first claim that the Sony Bravia II will be priced lower than the A95l and then lie because of tariffs. They are using the tariffs to try price gouge consumers and hoping people like you defend them. LG, Samsung, TCL, Panasonic etc, are all subject to tariffs, however none used that as justification to price gouge.

You mentioned Microsoft, we just heard about them laying off thousands. Corporate greed at its worse.

Watch, it won't be long before we start hearing about Sony laying off employees.

I never said Vincent's shootout included the Bravia 8 II. I listed the TVs that the LG g4 went up against. The Bravia 8II, let me guess right now, will win the Value Electronics 2025 Shootout. BTW, the Bravia 8II is not a flagship TV, it just a brighter A95L for all the nit nuts out there. The next Sony flagship will be a RGB Mini-led, they're all but telling you that.

Sorry, but I'm not a lapdog nor a fool for billion-dollar multinational consumer electronics corporations. They need to be called out when they are trying to fool people out of their money. I think Sony is trying to take a page from the auto industry; they know some fools will pay 35K for a Toyota Corolla, they think they can use that same approach with TVs.
