(Me watching any of Quantums videos) The storyline is ludicrous.

While I do agree with Vincent on the limitations of peak brightness of OLEDs, I still disagree with his notion of not using "Dynamic Tone Mapping" on LG OLEDs. In the video, he says that Dynamic Tone Mapping dims the overall picture. But what the function really is that it interprets each scene and increases or decreases the brightness/contrast by LG's own algorithm. Although flawed, for the most part it does a great job tone mapping scenes. (Ie Making the Star Wars films not as dim).

The scene he shows in this video of Arwen first revealing herself seems a bit "too revealing" at the place where he pauses the video to compare the 2 TVs. The Dynamic Tone Mapping keeps it blown out and I like that. She doesn't reveal herself fully until the next frame where the brightness behinds her goes down. I feel like not every detail should be revealed in certain scenes of movies due to creators intent.

Again, I like Vincent a lot. His videos are fantastic and I like the information he gives out. There a few things I disagree with, but that's ok. I think with HDR, we are finding more and more that it all comes down to personal preference on how we watch films.

For once, I agree with every word he says. It's why I've stayed so loyal to my ZD9, it's got a killer kombo of terrific blacks and high peak brightness and it doesn't sacrifice PQ EOTF tracking for either aspect. Of coursh it tops out somewhere, 1800 nits peak for luminance and between 1000-1200 nits for colour, but it means that any content up to 1000 nits basically doesn't require tone mapping at all. Higher than that becomes trickier to reproduce accurately, but there are ways to compensate with the Pannysonic HDR Optimiser and as many new titles come with Dolby Vision then that removes the guesswork on those.

Nah, it's because the LG G1 and Sony A90J are coming. New, brighter toys.

I had my eyes set on ZD9 around 2016-2017 but it was too expensive. Bought LG C8 but had to sell it due to personal reasons. Then bought Panasonic DX902 for cheap. It does 0 cd/m2 when FALD set to High and can actually hold to peak brightness for a long period (longer than your ZD9) and can do 880 nits full field. It was a light cannon and was great for bright scenes. I was really impressed the days I owned it but it still exhibited the usual LED-LCD artifacts which can be quite annoying. My Panny OLED offers an overall consistent PQ and does better HDR when the room is dark. I am not saying LED-LCD TVs are bad but when it comes to light control it loses quite a bit to OLED. You should own a capable OLED and you will soon change your mind.

Join the perfectly inky black dark side. May the dark force be with you lol.

I forgot to add that although my ex Panny DX902 was melting my eyeballs it was sometimes painful to sit through the side effects of FALD. You think the black is inky but doing a side by side with OLED, it was obvious what was missing. Colour volume wise, the DX was punching above its weight over the OLED.

I know exactly when and where the light control lets it down, but it's better than the 902 in that respect and at the moment I'd rather live with those faults than OLED's particular ones. And I watch everything in the dark so those boasts are lost on me. I can only post this pic so many times, but here it is again:

It's just a matter of getting that OLED light right (SDR) to compensate for the gamma issues I'd say.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I hope everybody can now see how FRAUDULENT that man is. It's PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. I warned you about Vincent and other Youtube influencers but you won't listen.

He's telling you, in so many words, it's time for you to upgrade because the OLED that you love so much, that you thought was the be all end all of display tech, is subpar and CAN'T Really do HDR.

It's a despicable and repugnant practice that Vincent is carrying out on behalf of TV manufacturers.

From this post you do seem like Quantum.

Read some of the comments on Vincent's video from loyal LG OLED fans, they are now questioning his integrity and honesty. They are waking up!! They know Vincent is playing the "Planned Obsolescence" game and marketing trickery on them.

Why don't you just show some integrity and honesty and admit you are Quantum.
