It outperforms the 2019 GZ2000 but let's wait for the JZ2000. I think we'll have another surprise.

Clearly, Sony got it right this year!! It still bugs me though that Vincent always depicts LG's Dynamic Tone Mapping functions by pausing a scene and turning it "On" and "Off". From my own experiences with my LG C9, Dynamic Tone Mapping is more subtle/not as aggressive on what it does when the scene is actually moving vs. when paused (like what Vincent demonstrates in his videos). Don't get me wrong, I like Vincent's videos a lot! That's just my only nitpick about them though.

We've calibrated over 60 A90Js so far and they come out of the box very nice and calibrated beautifully. This is a very big upgrade in display technology for the 2021 model year.
Coming from and LG E6, everything about the A90J is true, and then some. What an amazing tv. It was a worthwhile upgrade for me.

I loaded D-Nice settings from AVS on my 65A90J and they do make a difference. Color pops more. Load up a 10% slide of red, green and blue, and switch between Custom 1 with the adjustments, and custom 2 without the adjustments, you will see the colors pop more both in HDR and SDR.

Tomorrow FOMO will be discussing Sony's A90J, and LG's C1 with our calibrator, John Reformato and myself. This is a live podcast with open Q&A.

Hope to see many of my Blu-ray.com friends in the chat.

From what I’ve heard, there are multiple pages devoted to the red tint border and grid issue(s) with the A90J consumer panels prompting returns (to Best Buy) because of such by multiple owners posting in the AVS Owner’s thread and on other forums, e.g. - http://www.hifi-forum.de/bild/grid-p...2_1094529.html

Don’t know what to think/believe wrt the grid pattern prevalence and its visibility in white colored content especially in HDR movies.

These grid and tint problems have me thinking of not upgrading my 65” C8 this year to a 77” or go cheaper and get a x90j or x95j depending on those reviews

I have not noticed the grid issue on my 65A90J. Had it now for 3 weeks. Watched several UHD discs, and not one had a grid issue. I know some people do have it, and John from VE has said in a youtube video with FOMO, that all have it to some extent. With some tvs it is quite noticeable, and with others, like mine, it is not unless you put your nose up to the tv.

A lot of C7's and C8's from 2-3 years ago are probably at thrift stores already.

I have to suffer at least 5 years or more until Micro-led comes up to get Sony and Panasonic OLED at the thrift stores.

People on the AVS forum look for stuff to complain about. It wouldn't be the AVS forum if they didn't.

Haven’t noticed it on my 77” C1 either. Amazing TV from LG once again.

If everything aligns as to my needs and I get a craving for something new, I may pick up a big boy X95J -

later this year or next as they’re looking like a lot of bang for the buck. They will likely be entirely sufficient for movie watching at our weekend getaway home and since I watch a lot of sports, superior to OLED for that. Despite OLED disciples constantly bending over backwards to claim the new Sony A90J is so bright and elitist attitudes to mastering levels for SDR, I feel that LEDs still give the viewer the feeling of being there at the game, much more so than OLED, which remains hamstrung in nits at the top end for reality content viewing like a soccer or football match, even when closing the shades a bit on a Sunday afternoon.

Even though I could close all the shades and draw the curtains to make the room into a bat cave, I refuse to do so on a weekend afternoon, especially if my wife or guests are watching with me.
