Typical Samsung though, juicing the colour like that.

Yup. They really seem to hate following the EOTF curve correctly.

Been trying to get a 77’’ LG G1 evo delivered to my new place in CA for weeks but to no avail. Is there a shortage of this unit at the moment? Any idea when we’ll get a bigger inventory? I just want one so bad lol

There is a shortage of LG's 77" G1. Our next allocation is scheduled to arrive by the end of next week

Wall mounting LG's G1 is different than any other TV. We have a video on the bottom of our 77G1 webpage that demonstrates the best wall mounting practices.

I suggest you have your Best Buy installer review the video so he knows how to install the recessed equipment box behind your 77G1 TV and the electrical outlet.

0:00 Why Panasonic JZ2000 demo footage looks so blue
0:44 Does Panasonic JZ2000 use EVO panel?
1:17 Image retention test
1:47 Near-black handling
3:46 Colour accuracy
4:50 Motion performance
7:29 Video processing including upscaling
8:54 Screen uniformity
9:36 HDR quality including peak brightness
11:56 Dolby Vision
12:48 Gaming including input lag, 4K 120Hz, VRR & HGiG
18:17 Design
18:56 Sound quality
19:37 Remote control
20:08 My Home Screen 6.0
20:46 Summary

Our review sample is the 65-inch Panasonic TX-65JZ2000B which is the 3-pin-plug UK model, but the JZ2000 is also available in a smaller 55-inch screen size (model number TX-55JZ2000).

This video was graded and uploaded in HDR10, and so is best watched on an HDR display.

So the weird HDR stutter has been fixed but some unremovable interpolation is enabled?

Damn, looks like Panasonic dropped a ball this year. The fact that the JZ2000 had less image retention resistance and coarser near-black handling and 10-bit gradation then previous Panasonic OLEDs is a real shame, especially since Panasonic finally fixed the stutter issue on 24fps HDR content on the JZ2000. I waited another year for that issue to get fixed which is I choose to skip buying the HZ2000 last year. Welp, looks like I'll be getting an HZ2000 OLED anyway this year when Black Friday comes.

So the mediatek chip (necessary for hdmi 2.1) forced a compromise to picture quality. Some posterization in awful source material is somewhat forgiveable but now it's creeping into standard 10 bit content? They also don't have a decontouring filter to help alleviate the issue. Big problem when you consider how much this TV will cost. Sony is dealing with this chip's limitations too and it's rumored to be the reason why they don't have VRR yet. Interestingly, Vincent still claims the Panasonic JZ2000 was "on the whole able to present clearer, more accurate shadow detail than Sony OLEDs". The near black torture test scenarios and how each TV approaches the problem is fascinating; I hope there will be more content comparing them in that regard.

Some of it could be fixed in software updates, but Panasonic don't do many as there is less to fix than on other sets.

This push for gaming and 120hz over video was a mistake

The copyright folks lack commonsense.

Check out this channel FlashbackFM. Filled with video clips from many Warner and DC films with many of them having 10M+ views. The application of copyright claim has been farcical for a while now.

I remember having 2 copyright strikes (VeRO) on my eBay listing for stating discs are Region free. Was forced to update to code free lol and A B C with space between each letter. This was many years ago. Not sure if they do that now.

As with some early HDMI 2.0 chips not being able to do 18 Gb/s and HDCP 2.2 at the same time I’m sure these kinks will be worked out in the near future, but yeah: it’s a shame that image quality is being compromised as a result. It’s annoying on a personal level because I could not give a shit about 120Hz playback or any of those other gaming features, when it comes to movie watching those things are wholly useless.

But as Vincent said, if the manufacturers don’t include this shite then they’ll get lambasted by all the moronic bloggers and youtubers who just wank over specs, irrespective of whether those specs are going to be of use to every punter.

I think the compromises due to the change to the new chip is one thing, but not using a new panel is the biggest issue to me. Compared to the A90J this will mean less sustained brightness and overall reduced brightness on all windows but the 10%, which I assume Panny is still achieving by pushing the white subpixel. On the whole longevity will be reduced too cause Panny is pushing the panel harder than Sony is.
