to save viewers time, here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX4n..._title#t=9m16s

In that regard, there are several client monitors in the 55 - 65” range that already perceptually match in Rec.709 very closely to small 30”-ish grade A reference monitors used in studio color bays - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...0#post18238694.That’s easy peasy.

However, the thing is, where challenges arise is when grading in HDR because you’re working at larger color volumes at higher nits levels so larger client monitors make perceptual matching (and thusly achieving true to creative intent) in HDR more difficult. I think perfection-seeking videophiles would like to see in this potential upcoming video alluded to by Vincent is to concentrate on how well the Panasonic OLEDs (regardless of the ability/or lack thereof to upload new user generated LUTs - https://hub.displaycal.net/forums/to...0-calibration/ ), perceptually match HDR content to a Sony grade A reference monitor (be it an HX310 or X300) as compared to, for instance the LG CX.

And….unless Vincent wants to talk about ManU, more twins jokes in the video too please.

FWIW I didn't report any of those posts, but I think you have your answer as to whether such spamming is tolerated. One posting in an appropriate thread is fine, but you putting it into three threads yourself and two more from two other folks was just too much.

He put it in three threads? WTF. I get when people want to use a Vincent video to illustrate a point or something, but just randomly inserting his content into threads is the kind of nonsense I'm trying to save on.

Like I tend to leave out Vincents gaming related videos form this thread, as they are more fitting in the technology threads related to games consoles.

I swear to all that I am neither trying to be provocative or ignorant, but I totally missed that. Is there like a short summary/friendly/non-controversial version of what happened?

Ah, but Value Electronics bringing Panasonic OLEDs to the US makes no difference to Geoff as he's English.

You did not read or understand my previous explanatory message so I will start over.

The video shows how the two types of Dolby Vision formats (DV and LLDV) are handled in different equipment (Sony TV and OPPO player). It seemed logical and useful to me to post this video, 1 on the HDR thread, 2 on the OPPO thread and finally in the Sony tv thread.

So no, this is not coincidence or absurdity or spamming.

A read you, all the members of this forum should be satisfied only on a thread for information.
Scottishguy, you are the proof that you content with a single thread for information since you are surprised that I posted the same video on three threads.
Too bad you did not understand my approach.

You are Scottishguy proof of this by your astonishment.

Emm what has the fact I'm Scottish got to do with this?

I'm not trying to personally attack you over this. Indeed, I can see your logic noe.

Perhaps the solution is you post the video here, but also provide the links to the threads the video is relevant to. Thus saving on posting a video multiple times.

I assumed it was at the very least hyperbole, but I kept pretty good tabs on that thread and don't recall the post(s) in question. Something about dead horses and sleeping dogs is best, probably.

Basically that James Freeman fella kept calling out Ralph Potts at AVS and he felt compelled to reply. After which a certain someone got rather over-excited and started chirping about libel, sending messages back to Potts and whatnot about what was being said, then that person got a short vacation from the forums and the thread was tidied up accordingly. But as Potts actually admitted that he hadn't even watched all three movies in their entirety before giving them 100/100 scores for PQ then his views aren't even worth getting all het up over. It's rather ironic that the leader of the "if you haven't seem them then your opinion doesn't count" brigade got a time-out for vociferously defending the opinion of someone who hadn't watched them fully either

I only sent one msg on Facebook to AVS to say it was still happening.

Okay, so change the plural to a single. Still makes everything else true and it was fookin bizarre, quite honestly. I don't think I've ever seen someone get so caught up in gatekeeping for a certain video release than you did with LOTR's UHDs, and I been on forums like this for almost 20 years.

As I've said before: when you go all in then you go all in, but you've not always got the facts to go with your proclamations and some things just aren't worth getting that het up over. Mental health issues may lead to such intensity of feeling but in turn it's only going to worsen your mental health.
