Indy I and III did indeed have absurd moments in them. Nostalgia just has made you overlook them.

After sneaking past the poison darts the first time. He manages to run through the hallway of them to escape the rolling ball of death, without getting hit. And outrunning the ball was pretty absurd in it's own right. And there's silly moments like getting smacked in the chin by Marian with the big mirror while they're on the ship. People need to face facts. The entire series is full of silly and absurd moments. It's a modern serial. BTW: You forgot all the absurd and illogical traps leading to the Grail Chamber in III. |

Exactly. If the movies were real, Indy would have died in the first film.. getting the Golden Idol.

You guys are right about the entire series being cheesy, wonderul cheese, but still cheesy. I felt protective of the series when I saw the new film which is why I put it on par with Temple of Doom (my least favorite by far). Each time I see KotCS I like it more and more. I hope others give it another chance.
More Judeo-Christian artifacts would be my number one choice (spear of longinus or something similar) but Atlantis would be good too. There was a pretty neat PC game in which Indy searched for Atlantis. |

Hopefully it will be nothing like KOTCS. That was such a mess. I have no desire to see Shia's character again either.
They need to get different writers this time and actually work on something called character development. Maybe they have learned from their mistakes and can actually make something that at least comes close to the first 3. Hopefully the plot will revolve around a religious artifact and not a bunch of skinny aliens. ![]() |

In Raiders, Indy was trying to beat the Nazis to the Lost Ark of the Covenant. In Temple, he was trying to recover some sacred stones. In Last Crusade, he was searching for the Holy grail. In Crystal Skull -- I have no idea what he was supposed to be doing. There was this skull with some kind of powers, and these Russians, and this buried spaceship . . . It was just a muddled mess. |
