No, not really. Compare Indy's dialog in any of the first three compared to KOTCS and it almost comes off as caricature. Add to that that all of the characters have seriously diverted from what we've come to know about them, and you get what we now have.

2 and 4 not so much.

Maybe we'll have a Star Trek-like "curse" on Indy, even though Temple wasn't nearly as bad as 4.

Actually the bride was not invisible. It just blended in with the background like camouflage. The silly part is that it would not have blended in with anyone that had 3D sight.

So everyone in the movie and the audience was only seeing 2 dimensional?

You do realize about 20 years have passed for Indy between Indy III and IV, right?

Most people change quite a bit over 20 years. And I don't see these massive changes.

Yeah, he changed.... it's called aging. Check in with a friend you haven't seen in 20 years.

And 'All of the Characters'? I guess Sallah and Henry Sr. did change a lot. It's called being dead.

Only the people in the theatre was seeing it unrealistically because the movie is 2D. If you saw something like that in real life, your eyes would each see a different angle. Each eye would see a slightly different view of the background cliff or wall. Your brain would recognize that the bridge is there because the different views of the bridge are more similar.

Now I love the Indy movies, but isn't Ford getting just a bit old for another one. I did like in Crystal Skull that they had the character age rather then trying to pull off Ford playinng a young Indy. How about Indiana Jones And The Search For The Golden Rocking Chair!

There are way too many instances of dialog that are REALLY out of place. The scene in Indy's house, the coffee shop, the motorcycle chase, the warehouse chase, those all "get it" and are shining points in the movie. His smarmy lines about Spalko's dialect, his "I'm so silly" dialog at the end regarding Henry Jones Sr, and lecture while he's sinking in the sand during the "we need a snake scene" scene, not so much.

Also, Indy was always the driving party in the films. There was weight to his journey. In KOTCS, he's got such a big posse with him that he really has nothing to do, and ends up following the "we can't come up with a good reason for him to be doing this" John Hurt character around like he's chasing checkpoints in a video game.

Marion went from being a tough, no-bullshit broad to a doting ditz. Aside from arguing with Mutt, she shows none of the spunk she had in Raiders. She may as well have been another character entirely.

It's just so obvious that it was cobbled together by people who were not familiar with the series (no matter how much Spielberg likes to say Koepp is in tune with the characters).

Uch . . . I could write a five page paper on why this movie is horrible. I've watched it eight times, twice in theaters, six on BD, and I WANT to like it, and there are a few moments where it's actually quite good, but as a whole it just seems like it's a B version of Indiana Jones, which is already a B version of a lot of movies. The others still pull me right in, as the cheesy action/sci fi at least LOOKS believable and is generally explained by the artifact/lore, and the dialog isn't nearly as hokey. But, I'll let the thread get back to the topic. Hopefully Indy has a bigger role and reason this time and we get more practical effects.

Blasphemy!

III was my favorite of the 4 easily.

III
I

HUUUUUUUGE GAP

II and IV (I haven't seen IV since it first hit home video so I can't say for certain if it is third or fourth for me.)

III and I will be the only ones I buy when they are released individually.

I'll never understand the hate some people have for the 4th movie. The first was a bonefide classic. The others were just fun, and the 4th one fits in just fine with the others. Anyone who is making lists of why it's terrible must have been wearing HUGE blinders while watching the Temple of Doom.

That being said... a 5th one? Really? What happened to Lucas wanting to get away from this stuff and make his smaller, indie films like he mentioned 5 years ago. So far, it seems to be Clone Wars, Indy 4, SW live action show, Indy 5...

Oh well. I'll pay my $10 and go see it. And buy the blu-ray and probably the soundtrack. So I guess maybe it's a smart move after all.

In the second, he's looking for 3 rocks that when stolen everything in nature around the village dies, where a guy as his heart pull out of him yet still lives and his still screaming and alive when he hits a pool of lava, goes on a rollercoaster ride in a mine....

In the third, he's looking for a cup that belong to Jesus, once again nazi can't get him, drag's his dad along for the ride, shots 4 count them 4 guys with one bullet who just happen to line up for him, meet's a knight who's been living off drinking water in the same cave and with one book for 700 years but yet is still sane....

Let me say again, it's Indiana Jones It was never reality, nothing in all 4 movies is real or was suppose to be real.
I thought they were true stories. You ruined it for me.

That is an example of the non-realistic nature of the movies.

I'm surprised you left "Indiana Jones and the National Debt" out of the list. Let's see him tackle that adventure!
