harrison Ford is no spring chicken, he's old. That will be like Clint Eastwood trying to do another Dirty Harry movie at 90 years old. If Harrison Ford decide to make another Indy film then it'll be foolish of him because of his age. It's too physical! Most certainly all the def defying action scenes will be performed by a stuntman, and the audience is going to know that it's not Harrison Ford.

So no Spielberg, no Lucas. Why even make this? Hard pass.

There's a big difference between an action movie with a fifty-year-old lead, and an action movie with an EIGHTY-year-old lead.

All of the deepfake videos on YouTube recently should make none of us doubt Ford’s acting ability on Bradley Cooper’s body.

Yes, the point is that the previous three films were great, all of them, legendary pieces of adventure cinema, whereas Indy 4 felt like it was going through the motions.
Even in Indy 4 they chose to focus Indy on vehicular action rather than Ford running around like he was in his mid 40's. 12 years later and Ford is expected to pull off the same action? Not going to happen. |

If Mangold is developing his script with a writing partner, they haven't been identified yet. I agree with you that Mangold being an accomplished screenwriter in his own right suggests he may not need a collaborator, though maybe he can buid on some of the existing material instead of starting from total scratch. In the four years Spielberg and Koepp have been trying to crack the script, they must have come up with some usable elements...surely? Koepp seemed to think they ended up with a good script, and Harrison Ford said as much during the CALL OF THE WILD press junket. Maybe Spielberg wasn't pleased or maybe he vacated the director's chair for some other reason, but it's weird to completely toss away a script about which there seemed to be some positive consensus and which had taken so long to achieve. It wouldn't be an uncommon story in the realm of Hollywood development if that's what happened, though. |
