Beast & Kryptonic-
Yeah I guess...
but they could have used a real animal or really good puppet...And not adjusting the color, etc. and shooting on traditional film-stock, etc. etc. would've helped. Moot point I guess!

Back to topic- Just stick with what works and don't try to win NEW fans by re-inventing or even dulling-down Indy! There's enough fans already that they know they'll make a killing at the box office either way!

Speilberg Lucas and Ford can command a huge paycheck/share no matter what movie they do at any given time- Even if speilberg makes a close to the heart piece like Munich of Ford makes a boxoffice bomb like Firewall, their bank account isn't worried...

Puppet? Really? It's 2009. And a puppet is severely limited and looks even more fake than CG. Either way, it's all fake. If it's a model or a digital creation, a puppet or CG creature, it's still fake. The tools have changed, but the implementations have pretty much stayed the same in Skull.

That is actually a very good point. They don't really HAVE to make this film for money. All three, especially Spielberg, WILL get paid no matter what they do. So it could be argued that this is a "labor of love". However, it is very difficult to shake the "cash cow" feeling one gets when projects like these are mentioned.

Exactly. Look at Yoda in Episode 1.

They tried to go with a puppet taken from the orginal, and it looked terrible.

CGI is just another tool in the filmmaker's toolbox. And it's no worse than any previous leap forward.

Just imagine if people like you guys were just as closeminded about Stop Motion or whatever.

Movie Fan circa 1962:

"Hey look, they are doing a film called Jason and the Argonauts. The story looks cool but... dang it! They are using stop-motion animation! What ever happened to guys in skeleton costumes???!!! Ray Harryhausen raped my childhood!!!!! ARRGH!

Wow!!! I'm floored at that one...just wow!
So my opinion on the look of one film I guess reveals it all! And as I just stated in another thread LOVED Shane Acker's 9 movie! <- ALL digital!!! My point was just that people like Guillermo del Toro, etc. make amazing films blending puppets, CGI, everything at their disposal. And starting from scratch I would imagine any Indy film would too! Just MY opinion was that they could have kept KOTCS a little MORE old-school!

But I give up- nothing left to add here for now!

Here's hoping we get CITY of ATLANTIS, or Garden of Eden!!!

Even if IV wasn't that good, everybody here would pay to see V so why not make it? It makes sense financially.

I've only seen Raiders... I loved it so much that I want to wait until it comes out on Blu to see the others.

Pretty much. I honestly think modern film fans are just horribly jaded.

Is Shia going to be in this one? I'm all for another Indy...just hearing the theme song is enough to get me excited. Ya...I wasn't fond of the fourth but it was still Harrison putting on the fedora again and that made it the most enjoyable.

Well its a matter of nostalgia. People grow up with these movies and when projects like this come up they become afraid a new film will tarnish a franchise's legacy. Of course, Indy is one of the biggest so the stakes are higher.

After all, no one will cry foul over a new Bring it On! sequel.

^^^ Case in point, I thought Die Hard nailed the 4th entry. It was the same formula that always worked in the series...non-stop action!!!

Whereas X-Files: I Want To Believe kinda missed its mark by NOT doing anything new with the characters...

It's all just opinions- and I'm just here to share!!!

What if part 5 just had a stand alone, End-All title like the original "Raiders of the Lost Arc?" Indy Jones & the KOTCS was a bit wordy...and 3 with the Indy AND formula is a little tiresome!

How about JUST:

"The Lost City"
or
"Dr. Jones' Wild Ride" or whatever...

Just in the classic font...throw it on a poster with Harrison and everyone would know it was an Indy Jones movie!!!
