Strange feeling lads on the one hand i am thinking i am 37 years old supported this club all my life when Wenger came in nobody knew him and i was 16 with his first game against Blackburn.
His ideas and style of Football changed the club and others in the game at that time he quickly brought success and a unbeaten season record which i can't see anyone doing again.
The downside to this was a man who later on in time never adapted or changed which left the door open for others to catch up and pass us out every season.
His downfall was he was given too much influence and power and how a weak board and owner hid behind him instead of making the calls.
Take me a while for the news to finally sink in but also looking forward to a new chapter in our club and see what the future brings.
I stand by what i have been saying for years that it was time for him to go but i will say thank you Arsene for the great memories you gave the club and English football.

As a neutral, I'd go along with that Tob - a good comment. Let's hope the club can find a good manager to bring it the success it deserves.

Just out of interest Tob, with ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique being mentioned as a possible successor at Arsenal, as well as Carlo Ancelotti and one or two others, is there anyone in particular you'd like to see as the new manager?

Thank you for your question i don't have any faith in the board when picking the manager as none of them have the experience of being in this position apart from one or two.
I hope it be a experience manager with a winning mentally and not a unproven manager for a big job like this CV19.

Luis Enrique appears to have a good record while he was in charge at Barcelona, and apart from Ancelotti, Brendan Rodgers has been mentioned as well as some guy from Germany (can't remember his name).

I'm sure Thierry Henry mentioned on Sky a few weeks back that he wouldn't mind a go at the job, but of course, whether he'd make a good manager is another story as he'd be new to this position.

Well mate, whoever gets chosen in the end, I hope he will succeed.

More like incredible relief, as in being cured of hemorrhoids. Granted, Arsene is truly one of the greatest football managers of all time, but he stubbornly held on far too long at Arsenal. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he shows up somewhere else like in China to manage another football club because I think he still wants to stay in the game. I wonder if the process all began with Josh K.’s visit - https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/03/06...parture-claims because there certainly has not been “harmony”....anything but that.

At least now I can wholeheartedly root for Arsenal to win the Europa league.

Maybe this news will inspire his players to play better and beat Atletico Madrid, if not to pay tribute to the man’s legacy (deserved) but at least in terms of their own personal playing career interests as some under-performers may well be released in the new era. As far as I’m concerned, the ball is now in the ownership and Board’s court. Are they going to put out the big bucks to sign some of the best like Man City, ManU and Chelsea do, or are they going to be satisfied with a top 4 finish in the Prem and thusly qualifying for Champions year after year only to be knocked out in an early round because they’re simply not good enough.

I like to see the players give everything to win the Europa League and send Arsene Wenger out on a high but it will be a fight against A.Madrid.
There will be money their Penton but i can't see the board giving the new manager big funds and he have to work fast with this squad to see who goes or stays with the World Cup this Summer and this is the only transfer window for next season.

Sorry to hear Steed, maybe this heads-up to Peter will help dull the pain a tiny bit – see post# 5067, on this page - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...76605&page=254

Man, you were right last season, once you go down from the Prem...it's difficult.

Cheers Lads, very dark day in our history. Sky ran a stats section last night that read as follows.

As accurate as my memory allows

SAFC major Honours 8. Accrington Stanley 0
Stadium capacity 48,000. Stadium Capacity 6,000
Top wage 70,000. Top wage 15,000 Squad
Record signing 14.9 million Record signing 150,000

Shows how far we have fell. Also shows how much trouble we are in if we can’t shift the (in my opinion) pitiful excuse for a footballer that is Jack Rodwell.

It’s Short Tob. He has (In my opinion) appointed the wrong people, made some horrendous decisions (6 year contract for Rodwell on 70,000 a week) the Adam Johnstone farce should have been dealt with sooner, a director of football was brought in and then wasted a fortune on 6 players that barely featured in the first team, etc..

I could go on and on. We finally have some passionate kids now, but it’s come way too late. I still think Coleman is the right man for the job but we need a new owner. It’s going to be a lonnnnnng summer.

This could be a good moment for a new owner to come in now Short have to accept a loss if he still wants to sell the club now that you be in League One next season.

I sorry to hear about SAFC Steel. A very disappointing outcome for you; I'm sure. I should hope that your club will bounce back with the manager you have already got. Coleman was a really good manager when he was with Wales. I hope your club get something out of it by improving how to construct the team & make it play much better than now.

We also had the news today that we have an all Premier League tie in the FA Cup Final between Man United & Chelsea being confirmed for Wembley next month.

Already got my season ticket mate. To show their appreciation for loyal supporters the club are Reducing prices and freezing for the next three years. This means we can move to a better seat with a excellent view and stay there for 3 years at same price. It’s the only thing we have got back off the club so small mercies!

That should be a good cup final by the way.

Sorry mate, only just logged onto this thread and only now realised you are a Sunderland fan. Good to see them giving something back to supporters, and I hope everything works out well in the future. As already mentioned, Coleman seems a decent manager and I do wish him well.
