Finished with finals and have gone ahead and printed some covers out. Here's one that Scorpion Soldier did and was kind enough to share with me. It's the one he did for 'Collateral'. Really just love this take for the artwork. He did an amazing job!

Then here's one of the ones I did for 'From Dusk Till Dawn', for the Echo Bridge release. I really loved the Alliance cover so much more!

Here are some covers that I made for the future release of the Hunger Games..

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if covers like these are going to be used. With the success of the movie, I am pretty sure that there will be more than 3 editions.. or store exclusives.

Finally a great Super 8 cover, always hated the retail one with all that yellow and red which make no sense. Proof of purchase unnecessarily there.

Actually, it's meant to mimic the packaging of a reel of 8mm film. So it does make sense, it's just that most (including myself) don't get the reference.

And again, these are front/spine replacements. I don't touch the backs. Glad you liked the cover as a whole. Patch5129 picks the artwork so all credit should go to him.

Anybody have other sites to download DVD and BD cover art? Places that are FREE, even if you don't submit cover art (I have no skills). Just registered for one that didn't mention anything about payment, and then got the big "Nope, you need to pay us" when I logged in and tried to download something. Makes me want to smash everything.

EuphoricFX is great, but they have a limited selection.

Yeah me too!

And I make cover arts myself, but I really don't like the way those websites work.

Ahahah

Yeah but does the artist gets paid?

If I make a cover art and I want to share it on boards then be it.
Don't need to make people pay.
It's the way internet goes for ages and it's the way it should live on!

I make cover arts and I don't see why people would pay a website admin if I want to share them.
If not I keep them to myself.

That's all I said

Bottom line is: someone had to pay for the development of the web site, the maintaining of the site and the monthly fees of keeping the site alive. The total cost and out go can be pretty steep. The $12 a year that I have paid to be able to use the site is really pretty cheap for the benefits that I receive.

Do the designers get a little something for there work? Who knows?? But if they did not feel they were also getting a benefit from the site, they would not be producing custom covers for it.

Everyone seems to benefit one way or another.

If you ever decide to design your own custom covers, develop your web site, pay for web hosting and let everyone have your designs for free, please let me know and I will join your forum.

Yeah... well... Bluray.com and a large range of forums such as this one with a huge custom covers thread are FREE.
And that's all we need for us artists to share our covers if we want to and for people to download our work for free.

I know Imrahil! Don't worry.

The thing is that I don't see why I would go anywhere else than here or some french forums I already use to do that

Of course I totally understand commissions and exclusive covers that some artists do here.

But if I ever put a cover here there would be a downloadable link in my post or available after sending me a PM, as a lot of artists already do it over here!

And if I ever chose to open a blog to share them, it would be free such as Bunny Dojo's.

Yes, they are FREE but someone somewhere is paying for it.

Blu-ray.com gets a little kick back when we click off to Amazon to purchase. Which is great. But maybe in the future all that stops and then see what happens. Advertising starts? We might asked to pay a small yearly fee?

As I mentioned, all this stuff is not free. It is being paid for by someone.

I am loving those criterions runnersdialzero. Do you have a link to any of the high quality images for them? I am part of Hirescovers but don't know if you have your work on another site. Keep up the awesome work!

I know that. I hope you didn't think I was dumb enough to think someone doesn't pay for it

But I don't think forums would ever disappear and be not free.
But who knows? Maybe you're right, maybe it will change, maybe in a near future every forums will be... not free...

If that happens, I hope I could get a Dolorean...

... for free!

I don't have them on any sites. I didn't create any of the front artwork. Just setup the pieces. Didn't want people to think its my creation.

If there is a certain cover you want. I could email it to you. I didn't go very elaborate on the back covers. Very simple. So I can give you the photoshop file or a JPG to print it out.

I suppose I should create some kind of album where people could access them. Any suggestions?

And thanks for the kudos!

You could probably add them to hires or europhoricfx if you give credit to the artist. Not sure though could be wrong. New to this kind of thing. Maybe one of the guys on here would have a suggestion. How many do you have. So far all the ones I have seen I have liked. Would hate to make you go through and email a whole bunch out sounds kind of tedious for ya haha. But I really like the style of them. No prob on the backs not being completely done, because I have been playing around in photoshop and it would be a cool way to learn more.

Usually you are expected to get permission from the artist, especially on sites which give credits for uploads. Anything less then and your user name, password and IP address will likely get banned. On the site which I moderate it's not even a question - users are banned (and blackballed on other sites) if they post someone else's work. It's actually quite a small community and word spreads fast.

Don't need to make people pay.
In a word - yes the artist does get paid - in credits. Normally you would have to pay for credits, but if you contribute to the site most sites will provide you with credits for free.

Since credits therefore have a monetary value and customaniacs gives 6 credits for a cover, 2 credits for a label and 1 credit for an image then whenever I post a custom cover and get 6 credits for it I am in essence getting paid because to get those 6 credits without posting a custom cover I would have to fork over some cash.

To me people who complain about having to pay for uploads on those sites are just too lazy not to make covers themselves. Would you expect restaurants to provide all their food for free, movie theaters not to charge admission or "Best Buy" to allow you to walk in, pick up a handful of Blu-rays and walk out with them without paying?

Not my case

I do covers myself.
I just find uncool that it isn't free for everyone (including me, even if I do covers) that's all.
If Bunny Dojo asked for money to download his covers then I would probably haven't started making my own, because I learned everything thanks to his great work. And it was free
