Ouch...that really illustrates it.

I think the problem here is that the "Casino Royale" piece was a custom piece of artwork and not studio marketing material, and in this instance at least the artist (DazTibbles) should have been credited.

The difference is that studio marketing material is copyright the studio and the studio copyright for the movie is almost always acknowledged somewhere on a custom cover.

Not crediting the custom artist in the "Casino Royale" custom is tantamount to using artwork worked by Nissen or Imrahil without their permission or without crediting them.

At the very least you need to work it somewhat so you make the image yours. So you are not just slapping some other custom artists work on a cover template and calling it yours.

I can post a link tomorrow to the scan I worked up.

OK quick question for everyone out there. I use undercoverxp for printing covers and can only get Criterion and DVD size covers to print correctly on Legal Size paper (8.5x14) and all I can find at my local wal-mart is crappy Georgia Pacific brand paper and I hate it. I use HP glossy paper for my blu-ray covers because they print out fine on Letter setting but DVD and blu-ray covers always get chopped off. Can someone eithe reccomend a good Legal Size paper to buy online or tell me how to fix it so I can print covers on letter size paper

I use 100 Brightness 28-pound legal paper for printing out covers. It works well enough for me.

I use HP Brochure paper. Sounds like a printer setting problem to me. If your printer supports borderless printing then try selecting that option in the print settings.

Thanks, I have been using 92 brightness 20 weight paper and I don't like it. It's too thin

Haven't made a cover for anything in years, and recently looking through my Blu-ray collection I realised how dull the Platinum Collection Batman Begins/Dark Knight covers look, so I decided to have a crack at doing a redesign.

I'll most likely make one for Rises, when I find a decent high res image of Bane.

My scan of the original cover art shown below per the copy I had purchased. Hopefully it suits your needs. Enjoy!

Very nice work. Beautiful. I don't own either of these films on Blu-ray yet. Holding off until Dark Knight Rises comes out in December.

Ok guys here's my question about paper used. I don't mind not using the fancy paper. but my covers in the past have looked a little 'short.' So my question is what SIZE paper do you guys usually recommend?

I find that 8.5 x 14 "legal" size works great for printing covers including the slightly larger Criterion ones.

Love the look. I was working on similar covers my self. i think it may look better with the title and credits on the top though if you want to try that.

Nice scan, but the resolution is too small.

Thanks to you (as well as the other couple of members) for helping me out! I did a nip and tuck to get rid of the DVD & digital copy nonsense (they went off to eBay) and made a blu-only cover.

My original scan is 3 times that size. Over 10 megs though. I can provide a larger version. What size is optimal for printing? Just let me know and I'll upload a larger version to my FTP and provide you a download link.

Covers are usually 300dpi, and something like 1762 pixels tall x 3172 pixels wide.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when making cover scans available for download. The cover scan I provided was resized from the original. It's the copy I used for grabbing just the front and back for use with DVD Profiler and My Movies for WMC.

My Universal template is 3121 px x 1728 px, 300 dpi. Or 10.403 in x 5.793 in.
