Its not a bad idea but it would bother me to no end

I got rid of all my Criterion covers and went to steelbooks I got tired of making covers for every new movie I got

I use to make Criterion covers and I slapped that C on some bad movies. But I didn't do it to make myself feel better about my collection. I just liked the template. Not dogging you in case you were thinking that. I respect your choice to do what you do. I figured most people do it for what you mentioned uniformity. Do you buy the clear cases as well? If I had a decent printer I would probably do custom art as well.

I had bought over 200 clear cases off eBay when I was doing it. Let me just say, I didn't get back what I paid for them when I sold them

I'm really liking the look of the PS4 cases and their potential for making some interesting custom movie cases.

Arguably these are what Blu-Ray cases should have been in the first place. They are the same size, but without the section at the top with the Blu-Ray logo (sort of like the Criterion cases, only blue). While I have nothing majorly against standard Blu-Ray cases, the whole extra space at the top for the Blu-Ray logo has always seemed like a bit of a waste.

While actually making a true custom steelbook, for example, isn't realistic, this gives another option to make something that approximates it, etc.

Take this as post as a compliment because I feel that your work deserves better than that.
I'm doing it because I personally like the way it looks.

I only shared here because firstly, someone requested James Dean covers as I was in the midst of working on them and secondly, in case someone else may be interested in the others I had made as well, (if people don't like the fake Criterions, I will stop posting them, makes my job easier) but I have no intention of making these covers for all of the films I own, I just like having a nice little collection of some of my favorite films in uniform on my shelf.

I like the clear cases Criterion uses, I like the uniform labels and I don't think any of the films I am including in my own personal collection are too far fetched for titles that could actually be included as part of the CC.

I'm not making any money off of these, I'm not making them FOR anyone else, so it's pretty much just to keep me busy when I'm bored and to further organize my collection.

I agree it's your collection and you can do what you like with it. I have even got some flack for making/downloading custom covers for movies that Criterion released on DVD but not Blu-ray (I am starting to do Combo Packs with the CC DVD and the BR from whatever studio releases it) and I also have all the films criterion released on LD (that I own) in my Criterion Collection (with awesome covers ) because I personally wanna have the most complete and comprehensive Criterion Collection there is.

now that is cool. that's the thing I hate when they release older movie - lots try and do modern covers what don't fit the movie. this fit the movie well.

Well, Tarantino is a ******, so I don't take anything he says seriously. My son creates more "art" in his diapers than Tarantino ever has.

Can anyone do a Zatoichi custom cover for the Criterion set coming up? I am going to buy a 9 disc case for this and would love some custom art. Looks like they went the sleeve route on this set.

i was wondering if anyone had any mock-ups for Fast & Furious 6 that match the motif Universal started (and has seemingly abandoned for 6).

Going off the steelbook, it seems it's color would be bright yellow. (to match the first five films' green/blue/orange/red/purple splashes of color).

I'm sure lots of people on here would really appreciate the uniform.

I just finished my custom cover for Child's Play 1-Seed. If anyone wants a set, send me a PM. The resolution in the images in this thread are significantly reduced.

Cheers!

Steve

Default Man of Steel - 2D and 3D

Nothing special to note here. Don't like the box art for Man of Steel at all, so I had to make some customs.

I know, it drives me crazy when some one like Tarantino who has mastered the art of film making and continues to make one great film after another feels the need to say bad things about other film makers. What ever happened to Brothers in Arms.

I wonder if any of you guys are up for creating a Bruce Lee collection set. I dont want that huge book on my shelf. I'd like to buy a five disc case and put the four BL movies from the Legacy Collection and Enter the Dragon in it as well.
