I am very flattered, and very pleased, that you would pick that one out. While it may not be obvious, the image on the front of the Rio Lobo cover was one of the most difficult, and ultimately, most satisfying covers I have made. The elements for that came from three different posters plus added test. Two of the posters are "paintings" and the third used a photo still. I had to try to blend two very different types of images to get that to look the way it does. Bear in mind I'm not one of those Photoshop wizards so this was one of the hardest images I've done. I'm really happy with the finished product. Glad someone else is also.

This is quite possibly the best cover art I have seen, for any movie in a very long time. Did you make the front composite yourself? I've never seen it anywhere else.

Another classic gets classic poster art. Two versions, in fact...

I never liked the cover for 2001 so I thought I'd get one of the paintings from the poster and use that instead. It's nothing complex but nicer I think. The only really original part is the lower part of the titling, which is a larger, white, all caps version of the original font on that poster. I will get around to redoing the back cover sometime soon.

Universal and Studio Canal have released a very nice Blu-ray edition of Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation in Europe. I made this for that...
EDIT: I reworked the "special features" block since original post. I've uploaded the updated image at EuphoricFX.org. If you downloaded there, please go grab it again. Last edited by Robert George; 06-07-2015 at 02:34 PM. |

Spacing between Kubrick and 2001 on the cover doesn't match A Space Odyssey below it. Title treatment on the spine doesn't match the cover. And too many logos and things on the spine makes it too cluttered. Otherwise, I like it.

I thought I should give MGM a credit since the regular cover ignores them even though they produced the film. The rest is just the standard stuff on the blu ray spine (blu-ray logo, distributor, a picture to represent the film). As for the title on the spine, perhaps I should make it the same, but I felt it fit with the variation of titling on different media. The titling on the side is based off the title card in the film whereas the front one is based off the one used on the poster I took the image from. I have adjusted the spacing and I agree it looks better that way.

It isn't so much the number of logos but size and placement. The HAL 9000 "eye" can go, but the rest are good with some tweaking. This is what I did for my version of 2001 some time back...

Since you asked, here's my $0.02. Beyond my comment on the spine, I find the back to be too crowded at the bottom with dead space at the top. I grabbed your image and made some quick changes to the back using your images but adjusting size and placement. I think this shows how much even small differences make.
