Well I am taking a chance on this and double dipping with Ghostbusters and just give the other to my brother.

I've just ordered Glory & Godzilla so will wait and see. I don't currently own either on Bluray or DVD and I'm not too fussed about the missing extras on these releases. The last time I saw them was on VHS

I hope I notice a difference

How does the "Mastered in 4K" version of Taxi Driver stack up against the regular BD edition?

Very little in it, already had a 4k master and a good encode I would go with regular disc

Ghostbusters is stunning. I watched it again yesterday, and it was an absolute pleasure to see it looking so good. The constant, overbearing grain and blown out highlights of the old transfer made it look so harsh and 'forced', for want of a better word. I actually felt uncomfortable watching the old one because my eyes just couldn't settle, the image labouring underneath that suffocating blanket of noise.

The new transfer tames the grain, presenting an authentic dusting that doesn't overwhelm, and the amount of detail on display is staggering. I think this is the best transfer of anamorphic show of this vintage I've ever seen, it's that good. And it certainly makes a mockery of the claims that something like The Fog will never look 'good' because of blah blah blah. Bollocks to that.

Das Boot would be an interesting one - just watched the Director's Cut recently. I would be curious what could be done with it. It looks like an older transfer although fairly solid all things considered.

Black Hawk Down should be a shoo-in. It's time for a juicy new AVC encode for that one.

They might as well get Lawrence and Kwai out too, just to complete the 'why did they bother with that one?' lineup.

I'd totally buy Desperado, (again). I'd also like to see Bad Boys, sans the DNR pass that the current disc suffered.

You really think Bad Boys is DNR'ed? It looks fine to me in that regard, but what I don't like about it is the screwy colour timing, with faces looking either drained of colour or far too yellow.

I do, there's summit screwy with it. I agree about the colours too, the highlights have this weird green cast in certain areas. It's always been a grainy-assed movie, so I was surprised to see the BD looking so smooth places. It looks very digital to me.

I thought too digital also, but I thought sharpened at the time.
Need to look at caps or rip the disc myself tho
