Beats the hell out of people yammering on ad nauseum about how they have no interest in these releases
![]() I also watched the new Moneyball disc a while back and while I never saw the theatrical DCP, to my eyes it's essentially perfect on the AV front (as one would expect for a new film), unlike the decidedly flawed original disc (though I initially ascribed that to questionable DI quality). Viewers sensitive to sharpening will find it a nice upgrade. I suspect viewers with smaller TVs/longer distances might prefer the "enhanced" original. Last edited by 42041; 09-09-2013 at 04:31 PM. |

Yeah, we've all weighed in on the caps, but I thought it'd be nice to get some boots on the ground, so to speak. I've still got Glory and Angels and Demons to get through, but I don't have the originals to compare so it'll just be some general comments on those.

I'm so tempted to buy start buying 4K movies but I don't think I have a large enough TV to notice the difference in quality. I just think that if I don't I'll be kicking myself in the ass later as the larger TVs keep going down in price.

It's not just TV size, though. Your TV has to be capable of "expanded color" to take advantage of the software encoding.

Luckily I'm pretty damn happy with current Blu-rays aside from a few transfers here and there. |

Looks like Sony were/are using the standalone titles to ease in the Mi4K designation, and, going forward, new BD movies (mit extras!! oh noes!!) will carry the branding and the questionable technical voodoo (expanded colour etc). Elysium will surely be the next one?

Well, to be fair, it was around about the time when BD was introduced that Superbit DVD died out, i.e. they couldn't really claim it was the very best PQ any more! The same will happen with the Mi4K branding when true 4K BD is released...
