Default Questions about Intercooler for PS3

I've been reading a lot of grumbling lately about the noise and heat that the PS3 generates, especially after the 1.8 firmware update. Myself, if I'm watching loud movies, I don't notice the noise at all. I'd say it is much quieter than my XA2, which, at times, produces a detectable whistling tea kettle sound.

Anyway, I'm more concerned about the heat and am wondering if the Intercooler is a wise investment. My local Circuit City has them in stock at the MSRP.

Any thoughts?

this has come up several times. I commented in most of them after having lengthy conversations with various people who work for stores where they are sold. use the search function.

a summary would be, avoid the intercoolers like the plague.

advoid it for one reason your warranty gets a void, and 2 your system has its own cooling system it cools its self. I stand mine up it runs much better and cooler IMO.

I never heard anything about the ps3 one, but i hear the 360 one is more bad for the system than good. that alone would keep me fromt he product.
