Tough one yesterday, so I only had one post in me and couldn’t reply to anybody. Sorry, nothing personal.

Yes , and I would really like to see Bill Murray do a photo-op with a grounds keeper’s fairway hose…a-la Caddyshack for the photogs with the caption in tabloids later reading something like “Where are they….and what are they doing now.”

I actually started playing golf again, after having watched that movie when it first came out theatrically....for I had totally given up on the sport, prior to the flick.

Excellent dive, actually, just off the wharf... 15ft of water for about 70 min, saw a tonne of bass, crabs, starfish, etc. My first "cold" saltwater dive (temp was 70F)
el duderino - PM me your size (esp. height this time) as you can have mine, as a gift, if it fits you. Which reminds me, rickah88 – PM me your T-shirt and sweatshirt size as I may have something you’d be interested in too.

Hey, do your thing with the pic I posted above….even though the picture ‘metadata’ is yet another dead end for those *investigators* out there.

If you shoot ‘good’ 3D, you have so much control in post (and I’m not referring to converting [2D -> 3D] but rather, tweaking the native 3D footage in post) that, in experienced hands, working with a modern 3D capable DI system, and under no inhibiting time constraints, you have the ability to make ‘great’ 3D out of ‘good’ 3D footage. This is why, for example, 3D filmmakers are now starting to embrace shooting parallel and doing HIT (horizontal image translation) in post.
Received several PM’s on the post production tweaking of native 3D essentially asking me why?

Well, for one thing, when the 3D filmmaker has two cameras (even if the lenses are perfected matched, which is not a given), you have two different optical paths and it is impossible to align the cameras perfectly during a shoot, even using the best available rigs. Whereas in post, with some tweaking, you can align the images even better which leads to a more harmonious outcome.

So, a good practice would be to converge in-camera at the furthest object in the scene in order to capture as much depth as possible and subsequently to converge the horizontal image translation during post production.

That’s it for 3D post production teaching, as my attention span per post I do is rather limited these days.

I saw Final Destination 5 in 3D today and all I can say is WOW!!! Talk about a "falling sensation"....
I’m on so much medication now that I feel like a walking pharmacy. Also I developed a fever yesterday which my body is still fighting and I’m not sure how the Doc would respond to me asking for a sleeping med that might decrease my respirations. Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Plus, I just don’t have the heart to ask my wife to drive to the pharmacy and pick up another drug for me as she’s already gone above-and-beyond.

Haven't seen FD 5 yet.

I just turned 40 this summer, and I view that as a personal success story(when applicable). I think all those "10cent hot wings" during college finally caught up to me!
That just gave me an idea: Hmmmmmm....wings....

I didn't say there was a table that said it didn't support 3D. I said 3D was missing from the list of supported video specs in the linked page.

Penton-Man, does Ultraviolet currently support 3D?

At the risk of coming across as an "old mother hen" do yourself a favor and ask your Doc about sleeping pills and tell him about the fever.

During several of my medical ordeals my wife was a rock that I almost literally clung to. They are a lot stronger than we give them credit for and willing to help in any capacity. God...now that I'm walking about, I can't do enough for her.

In my praise of this release it was mostly confined to the technical aspects of the production. Mind you...I'm not a technical person, but it's pretty easy to spot talent. Last time I was in a "WOW" mood was after Avatar. I read in several reviews that the first time director, Steve Quale, worked with James Cameron for years and it shows up on the screen. This guy's going places.

I wish you all the best and keep nurturing that delicious sense of humor you possess.

A fever is your bodies response to an infection - make sure you notify the doctor ASAP because a secondary infection can cause a lot of harm especially in your weakened state.

That’s not for me to say. But even if it doesn’t, amendments can always be added to a platform as it evolves over time and becomes more popular with consumers.

You don’t have to be a “technical person”, just a person who is not swayed or jaded by misinformation. I think that in this very early, almost neonatal stage of modern 3D it is most important to let your own eyes be the judge of the material. Reason being there is probably more misinformation written on the internet about 3D currently than there was about Blu-ray at the same time during the format war.

Heck, when I mentioned that more than half of Transformers: Dark of the Moon motion picture was 2D ->3D converted (and hinted about it months prior to Variety breaking the story), not one movie critic or consumer (at least I’m aware of) even questioned the presence of converted material because it was marketed as *all shot in 3D* and the flick looked so good because the converted scenes blended seamlessly with the native 3D acquisition. Fact of the matter is that conversion works especially well if used in conjunction with natively shot 3D.

In hindsight, when the Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D Blu-ray streets, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the armchair Monday morning quarterbacks will suddenly *find* converted scenes *retrospectively* which they would have been otherwise completely clueless to, especially if you check their orginal thumbs way-up impressions of the 3D after having seen the theatrical release at their local Multiplexes.

Same thing applies to Avatar, just to a much lesser extent in terms of 2D ->3D conversion contribution, as it was also marketed to the public as being *shot entirely in 3D*. Heck, the first converted shot in Avatar occurs as early as about the one minute mark with the close-up of the ‘eye’ simply because the PACE Fusion 3-D rig just couldn’t get in that close to the marine’s eye. I didn’t hear any consumers or movie critics identify that either after they had viewed the theatrical or BD3D rendition.
