To Jono, from bottom of last (234) page - Hopefully, you’ll be able to view your first Ultra HD Blu-ray movie in time for Christmas.

March for the DTS X announcement, then it's anyone guess as to when we will hear anything else the BDA says licensing will begin mid year, so June time, June will probably be the full announcement.

Will Blu-ray.com be replaced by Ultra HD Blu-ray.com?

I fear that would lead to a major psychotic breakdown within this - https://forum.blu-ray.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31 and other subforums.

So, no.

Anyway, he’s back with some 4K finishing on Magic Mike XXL, despite not (as of this posting) yet being enumerated as such on imdb…http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2268016/...ef_=tt_dt_spec

P.S.
For those bidness boys and girls reading out there...
Since this is Oscar weekend, a follow-up bit on Steven’s comments about piracy, here be a quick read for those who especially enjoy numbers - http://irdeto.com/documents/pr_quick...BI_feb2015.pdf

And even quicker, for those who hesitate clicking on any pdf of any nature -

Penton Cliff Notes –
Screeners (for the 13 listed Oscar nominated motion pictures) sent to Academy and guild members led to 31% of the illegal downloads which the company tracked.

Not a 4K movie out of Hollywood, but pertaining to the value of 4K to surgeons in the OR….http://www.barco.com/en/News/Post/20...ection-in-semi in terms of better outcomes for patient health....rather than entertainment. Hey, we do have a cancerous tumor thread here in the Tech forum.

b.t.w., for those having trouble with the words 'prone' and 'supine' in the 2nd paragraph of the linked article, well, prone be belly down whereas supine be lying on your back. Next pop quiz will be to name all the segments of the liver.

Just kidding.

Let's make it out of super strong material, then stick a silly flimsy aerial on it...

Follow-up to the above ^ .
Elaborating a bit more upon the learning curve for DPs and Directors interested in HDR, months before the CineAlta magazine piece (Sony assets pdf) was published.

I’m not a salesman, but I do enjoy a challenge (e.g. PeterTHX with soccer). We’ll see how you feel about it 4 or 5 years from now.

Tell me something I don’t know. Why do you Brits say “Darby” for the word “Derby”. I have two Brits in my office (one an Aston Villa supporter) but I’m a little embarrassed to ask them for fear of expressing my ignorance to the culture speak.

Darby indeed.

I have used HDR but there are no films out with it at all and if you are thinking there will be a killer app for it I don't see it happening personally.
I just don't like the way it looks as a filmed look

The internet says…“The pronunciation came about because of the famous British inland pirate. When asked what he's looking for inland, he said "Dar be treasure" (http://english.stackexchange.com/que...d-derby-evolve)

Thing is, now I don’t know who that famous British inland pirate was? And what the hell is an “inland” pirate in the first place?

A note from last December….

It’s really no coincidence that the next generation ‘StEM’ reference material for filmmakers to be offered from the Academy, primarily concentrating on HDR, HFR, different spatial resolution (2K vs 4K) and shutter angle, includes a comprehensive shoot involving dollying back-and-forth across an interior sometimes while peering out of windows into bright daylight stressing the value of dynamic range in cinematography.
Contact AMPAS (although not officially listed as one of these projects - http://www.oscars.org/science-technology/projects ) and if you’re nice they’ll send you samples of the test(s).

P.S.
Not a “killer app” but a very helpful ingredient to the total recipe for UHD.
