That's actually heat damage to the film emulsion from shooting in the desert. The restoration featurette actually shows what it looks like magnified and it's thousands of little cracks like a dried-up riverbed. They were able to reduce it somewhat, but it's always had that issue.

It is indeed Movies Anywhere eligible! With exception of Lionsgate and Paramount, and certain Universal Studios releases that strictly release iTunes only digital copy, you can assume they're all MA eligible.

Any chance LoA 4k will get a limited re-release? My disc 1 has got laser burn damage and Sony US and UK haven't got any replacement discs in their inventory.

Amazing that Sony’s best catalog film that was beautifully restored is not available for an individual physical purchase. They have already done the work, so it would not be a massive expense for a reissue.

Yes. Laser burn. Out of all the 4K discs in the world, my LoA Disc1 had laser burn. I bought it off Amazon India as LoA was not released individually. By the time I got it off my cousin from India, the 4k steelbook edition already was sold out. After many many many emails to the Indian distributor, SPHE UK, Amazon India and SPHE US I can finally rest and say that they have found me a disc1 replacement for my damaged disc. According to SPHE UK, there wasn't any errors with the pressing of this disc.

Anyhow, SPHE US has found me the disc1 in their inventory which is good news.

Thanks for your email message which was passed on to us by our colleagues at Sony DADC. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced playback issues on your UHD disc for Lawrence of Arabia, however, you correctly observe that this particular product was only released as part of the Columbia Classics Volume 1 box-set in the UK and not as a standalone unit. Nevertheless we have had the master for this title checked and have not identified any defects or negative issues. Nor have we received any other customer complaints regarding this product.



As general advice it can help to gently wipe the surface of the disc from the centre outwards using a soft (microfibre) cloth. Hopefully this will resolve the playback error.



Unfortunately since this product is not available for sale in the UK we do not hold any stock and cannot replace the disc. If the playback errors persist I can only suggest that you contact Amazon India and seek their assistance for a refund.

The laser in a DVD or blu-ray machine is not strong enough to burn discs. I've heard this term used by gamers to refer to discs that are scratched by other means, sometimes by coming into contact with the lens of the laser, not caused by the actual laser itself.
