Having this on Kaleidescape in SDR I can verify this. This title is, in fact, the reason I was not as impressed with 2001 ASA as many. Lawrence (with a few exceptions of a few places in the film where it looks like dupes were used) looks almost unbelievable. The fine detail, grain structure, etc just look jaw-dropping.

I don't even think it's the best David Lean movie. That title goes to The Bridge on the River Kwai. But it's nice that my UHD is finally getting some company by Lawrence.

I once said I would go 4K once Lawrence of Arabia was released. I went 4K last year due to good Black Friday deals, but the point still stands- it wouldn’t feel like the format was “official” until Lawrence hit UHD.

I’m quite interested how they’re gonna fit the film on on disc, bd-100 is big, but the movie is 3h 45m long, Black Hawk Down takes up 70gb here-there, and that’s only 2h 25m long, they will have to compress the film a little more tightly if they are too fit the already existing sound mixes aswell.

Can I expect it to be the best looking catalogue title on UHD?

I am anxious to see how it compares to The Bridge on the River Kwai since they're only 5 years apart.

I think I’m more excited about not having to read everyone comment in the Sony threads about this anymore.
