Certain users would rather not waste their time with digital versions. Myself included.
Still awaiting news regarding Volume 2.

But I’m really glad it was included because I watched it and now think it’s magnificent.

Short story, I’d only have bought Stangelove and Lawrence if they were all single SKU, but I bought the whole set, and I’m glad I did because I discovered a new (to me) movie I really, really liked, and I got good deals on some other titles I’m perfectly happy to have in the collection.
LOL! So because of your selective buying pattern according to your logic, the studio won’t release these films individually. Dude, no offense but who gives a crap what you would personally buy or not individually. Just because you’ll only buy 2 of the 6 films individually doesn’t mean others won’t buy them.

Personally, I wish they would re-release them (like many people are asking for) because I missed out on buying the set unfortunately. Only releasing these films one time on UHD 4K for a very short period of time & just abruptly stop re-producing the products is purely an idiotic strategy on numerous levels & might as well not even bother producing UHD 4K material then.

You do know what you buy from these digital services you don’t own the product you bought? If the digital service loses the license to the title & is removed from their server, your purchase of that title is also lost. Buying digital is the equivalent to flushing money down the toilet. These digital services are money grabbing scams.

No they're not they stay up I have titles like that on my Amazon. You can't buy for instance...Masterpieces of European cinema: A Clockwork Orange 2011 but I can watch it anytime I feel like it LOL. I guess you learn something new everyday or you don't.

This is extra's and interviews...not the movie fyi. Buy rare stuff digitally imho or never see some things. Just like physical releases or start searching in other countries with a VPN maybe but I don't have a VPN sub to go hunting like that. Hopefully I have helped debunk your paranoia my guy.

Paranoia?!? LOL! Tone it down there hotshot & no, you didn’t teach anything here. You’re talking about extras & interview features (most people don’t give a damn about those things as that’s different licensing as it’s not related to the film’s licensing) as I talking about the films themselves. Secondly, what I said actually holds true as iTunes for example you don’t keep what you buy, if they lose the license, you lose your purchase. There was a national outcry when people started to discover this matter. There was several articles written about the digital issues. Do some research maybe you’ll actually learn something. Also, digital doesn’t have 1/10 of what’s available on physical media as that’s a proven fact as well. If physical media does die out (which is questionable) say goodbye to most catalogue titles but that’s another story all together. Furthermore, studies have shown that most people who have streaming services, the viewership for film watching on those services is rather weak.

So right. And still, some wake-ups will be tough.

Hmm link them with Movies Anywhere, if 1 goes out of business it's linked elsewhere hopefully...You think Amazon & Apple will DROP DEAD any day now huh? Big brain. No other company will buy them and honor digital sales. You're right, your way of thinking sounds reasonable. Better only buy physical releases only. Might lose a hundred dollars on 4.99/5.99 sales of 4K titles. What a wake that day will be. Please roast me then tin foil.

That's my problem. I haven't experienced this yet, but just in case : I'll have to "hope"...

Anyone prefer Lawrence of Arabia without HDR?

I do, and I don't. I keep the HDR (but it's a tad do dark in spots, then I raise the Gamma but not all the way, just until it has a nice balance of light and dark/shadows. I think it's pretty good like this, but you have to tweak it just a little. It's also tough to decide if I should use Expert 1 or just Warm here also. I think Expert 1 and Gamma +2 and HDR.

Anyone else adjust their tv's for this release a little to make it look better to them?

Lesson of the story... don't wait to purchase Volume 2 in case my third scenario proves right.
I remember someone linking to a French (I think?) online store which apparently had product pages of separate releases for some of the films in the set. I think that the site mentioned their release dates as 2021? Not sure about it, but I think someone posted this in the Vol. 1 thread.

I get a little defensive when people poke fun at me for buying discs and dropping 1500 on a TV when I could "just watch Netflix on my computer." They don't believe I can tell the difference between a disc and a stream, etc. etc.

But I think at some point, you just have to put in the disc and enjoy the ride! LoA on 4k looks amazing, and it's one of the GOATS. I can't imagine pausing it and making panel adjustments during the movie!

Don't worry buddy make fun of me because I spent more on my TV than that, so tell all your friends I haven't even been able to buy 10 discs per year I wanted because they don't release enough good titles I've bought GiTS Steelbook, 4K digital LoA, and 4k digital On The Waterfront recently. I do want to pick up Beetlejuice and Batman 1989 for nostalgic reasons and their quality is very good on 4K disc those are worth it imho. B&W titles are also overrated on disc. I have yet to be wowed they are possibly 20% better than a BD-50. Some of these other releases like Spartacus can be bought at anytime on a sale imho. I thought I would have 100 discs by now that but the library for 4K is so strange. Releasing Psycho or LoA in expensive sets LOL. These are my opinions you can easily put me on ignore.

Not making fun! Different strokes for different folks.

When someone balked at me for spending that on a TV (by historical standards I feel like $1500 2020 dollars for tech like 65" OLED is a steal!), I was like, how much do you spend on your dog's food and medical every year? lol. Like I say, different strokes...

Some of us don't want the bit-starved stream because because it really doesn't have the 4K advantage except in pixel size. So we're fine waiting, regardless of the longevity of the license (for a copy we would stop watching anyway once we got the disc).

And paying twice for this remaster isn't something many of us want to do.

But if you're in a hurry and don't mind the stream quality ...

Chris
