I just got the Nordic Steelbook. For once, it actually has a glossy finish while most steelbooks we get here are matte.

As one could expect, the UHD discs are identical to the ones sold in UK, Germany etc but the discs are stacked rather than having an additional holder in the middle. The regular Blus have the SF logo on the discs but I have not played them. Tried a few scenes from the first UHD disc and despite the grain not being quite as fine as one would've hoped for, it still looks magnificent.

Thanks for sharing. Kind of unfortunate about the stacking!

Just out of curiosity, are you planning on picking up The Bridge on the River Kwai as well? I'd be immensely grateful to anyone who could confirm whether the Nordic steelbook edition of that one contains the older disc or the new one with Dolby Vision and mono audio.

I don't think I'll go for Kwai as it's not a favorite of mine. However it does say Dolby Vision on the back so I guess it's a safe purchase.

Got the US steelbooks for both so I'm not 100% certain, but I checked the new Nordic releases at a store here in Finland and I'm pretty sure they are identical aside from the disc packaging.

The online listings I've seen for some reason only seem to mention the specs from the older release.

Well, I feel silly now. When I checked the back cover on CDON, I became unsure because it only lists Dolby Atmos; it doesn't say anything about the DTS-HD MA tracks.

But now that I look again, there is indeed a pretty clear "Atmos+Vision" logo near the bottom of the case, so that answers that. Would help if the image was higher resolution to begin with.

USA Getting hard to get

Amazon...sold out
Best Buy...sold out
Bull Moose...sold out
Deep Discount...sold out

I was getting desperate. Luckily, Barnesandnoble.com had it. Arrived yesterday...containing some damn book. And of course, Barnes and Noble is now...sold out.

While I went through the process of returning the book, I saw one of their brick-and-mortar stores in Northern California had it. Ordered it for pickup. And received a cancellation message the next day saying they didn't have it. Rolled the dice again for another store 30 miles away, and it went through. I didn't celebrate until I picked it up and saw it was in flawless condition.

I wonder if Sony will put out more (steelbook) stock. I will remember to pre-order next time. I hope others have a similar ending.

Lawrence of Arabia is the only David Lean film I really like. Nice 4K image. Still prefer watching the 50th anniversary edition Blu-ray though.

Kinda regret returning the second copy I had with the minor spine slash to Best Buy. I had purchased this release with the intention of taking it apart and putting in the front and back from the superior "pop art" steelbook from a few years back. But if this is hard to find, perhaps I should keep it as is. It guess it doesn't look too bad in person.

Why is this? Don’t have the 4k version yet.

Any chance they will re-issue this like they did with the Gattaca Steelbook 4K?

It seems highly likely that they will.

It's one of Sony's most important catalog titles.

Is this new edition the same discs as the one from 2020?

VERY glad I don't any need to rebuy this at all, escpecially since it's a SteelBook. Big no thanks on that gimmick case packaging. Have it from Columbia Classics Volume 1, and the corrected bonus features disc too!
Might've mentioned, I'm only keeping for the tat and OST CD.

I need the OST in my life!

Did they not correct the special features disc for the steelbook?

I did look at the announcement, and it's all the same content listed as the release I already have (corrected bonus feature disc), but shite Steelbook packaging, nothing else worthwhile (even more bonus features which would have been welcome), added. BUT, as I've mentioned, already own the Columbia Classics Volume 1 release of Lawrence of Arabia, which I have on my shelf with the slipcover.

In fact, I still have Steelbooks in my collection which I finally got the much more personally preferred standard releases of.
As mentioned, if this SteelBook had more added to it, but standard release down the line, I would have gotten it. Nope, Columbia Classics Volume 1 to me was a case of all six titles wanted, and only sold the digital codes that year from it.
BUT, this release is fairly much for those who missed out or didn't want that boxset at all. Also the constant complainers who were griping about not having a stand-alone release, as other users have mentioned, importing does exist.
Another mention, the corrected special feature disc for the 4K has all the bonus disc content from the Limited BD release I own, just on one disc instead of being separated on two. Already knew that in 2020.
