Marvel Official Press Release
Los Angeles, CA (February 27, 2007) -- Marvel Entertainment, Inc. Foreign theatrical distribution rights are always tied to media distribution rights. Look at Titanic where Paramount distributed it theatrically and on home video while Fox distributed it theatrically and in home video formats internationally. Look at Hairspray where because foreign distributors have yet to show it in their countries, New Line had to region code the BD to Region A (even though Warner, its parent company, do not use region code at all).

So Iron Man and Hulk (2008) will get released on BD in Region A and B.

Dr. Don removed this thread from AVS and said we shouldn't talk about movies that haven't hit the theatre yet.
I guess that's a new rule?

Anyway, new posters, JB has shown you the timeline.

These movies will come out on Blu-ray and that's great news.

Of course. Wasn't Dr. Don one of the "better" mods (relatively speaking) over there? If so, I guess Amir and/or his money finally got to him.

Glad you guys cleared everything up.. I was pissed when I saw a paramount logo after Ironman and Universal after The Kingdom. We can't have em all but I like the idea of importing.. That's one of the things I like about HD-DVD but I continue to resist as I'm ok not having every film right now.

whether you're joking or not, that's the dumbest comment I have heard from a fellow Blu-ray supporter.

The latest reviewed import BD is Infernal Affairs from HK(which is part of China) got decent review. Just because it's from there doesnt mean the PQ will suck. The lead paint jab is not needed, as being Chinese here in US, I'm insulted. It's almost like saying every BD that came from US will have hamburger grease on it because US has a obesity problem in the general public.

The joke setup was if Iron Man and Hulk BDs are imported from a foreign country, they could have lead paint.

But the setup is incorrect. Iron Man and Hulk will get Sony Pictures Japan distribution, which means that it will get a BD release. The country that has contributed contaminants in the food and toy industry in the US (and maybe around the world) is China, not Japan.

I could get technical on lead paint on BD, but I won't. I say the joke was bad.

While the joke may have been in reference to the wrong country (although I don't think the OP was specifically referencing any particular country), it was a joke all the same. I don't really see how this would be taken personally . . .

But . . . to each his own. I'm stoked that we'll at least have the option to get these. Hopefully they're worth the import price.

It's the Hulk. It doesn'teven take into account the last film.

And don't worry guys, the format war will be over by then.

insensitive, offensive, and stupid jokes still remain insensitive, offensive and stupid jokes, regardless of whether they're jokes or not. from what you're saying, it sounds as if any ethnic joke is ok because it is, after all, just a joke. or, for a more extreme example, a joke about those Nasty people from WW2 about their Hoedown would be acceptable because it is, after all, just a joke.

regardless, back on topic - if the movies turn out well, i'm importing, screw the cost. regardless of what the new posters say, it's hard to imagine how these movies will not turn up on BD in japan/europe unless something changes.

Maybe because you're not Chinese?

One oftentimes doesn't see how something might be taken personally, till it happens to you. (And then you did directly insult funkybudda cus he felt offended and complained.) *wags finger

Phew...I too was worried about lead paint and cheap manifacturing by the Chinese. But those Japanese love to program stuff, when they are not commiting suicide, they could punch numbers all day, so I am sure the quality will be good. I just hope my imports won't smell like sushi....

LOL!!!! you guys need to lighten up....a joke is a joke. My country (USA) is the butt of many jokes alot of from within, it is all in good fun...Satire is very important in our society.

Come on people. Like the kids in High School Musical would say, "We're all in this together!"

I've deleted my post, since some found it offensive. I apologize if anybody took it as rude. I saw the poster's joke as an off-hand remark, much like people making fun of "Freedom Fries" or any other foreign "event". I didn't see it as someone saying Chinese people are stupid because they're Chinese . . . the event just happened in their country . . . if it was any other country, it would have been the same joke, so . . . again, I don't see how it was aimed at anyone personally. Nazi's? Please. But . . . there we go.

Wisper . . . have you missed the entire point of this thread? Both films will be available to import, on Blu-ray, from Japan. We know they'll be HD-DVD in NA.
