It's sad that you're on the side of businesses that just want to take advantage of people during a potential time of crisis. People that could be poor and can't afford to pay such hikes. If there's no laws in place, then all stores will raise their prices, and then you'd be seeing a loaf of bread for $50. Do you not mind paying $50 for bread, or any other regular item that you could otherwise get dirt cheap before? How are you okay with that?
But that's the thing, you are not forced to buy it. Heck, I can open a barbershop and charge $200 for a haircut if I want. The issue is, no one is going to come to my shop for a haircut. And there you go..

Price gouge hand sanitizers if you want. If all of us find that so unreasonable, then they'll either lose money or will feel compelled to lower their prices. What prices people are willing to pay dictates how merchandises are priced on the market.

If people want to be silly enough pay insane prices for hand sanitizers, then they are the fool. As for me, no thanks. They can take their overpriced sanitizers and sell them to other suckers.

Without laws, everyone will raise their prices, and there's enough idiots that will pay it, and keep the price up. But whatever, like I said, its sad that you see nothing wrong with people trying to take advantage of others during tough times, but it's not really surprising coming from you at this point...

I don't understand why you're not seeing my point. Look, right now, price gouging is forbidden. And look, not a single store has hand sanitizers, especially during the time when it is absolutely needed. So whether they price gouge and you don't want to pay or if they keep prices low and sell out, either way, you ain't getting any hand sanitizers.

So I don't understand why I'm getting attacked here..

Price gouging is not the answer to hoarding...If limits were instituted then people wouldn't be able to buy a whole store's supply. In either situation you have shitty human beings, that's not really a selling point for why price gouging should be allowed.

I see your point, but to be fair we should be able to raise rent as well. Congrats, your rent is being increased to $10K/month.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say. Why are businesses getting attacked for this? Why not attack the idiots that are actually buying these sanitizers at inflated prices?? Why are those people considered angels in this situation?

Yeah I don't get it either. As you said, no one is forcing these people to pay $20 bucks for a bottle of hand sanitizer. There's no gun to their head as they're paying, is there?

Yes, junior year. We had to help clean his dorm room (before check-out) freshman year...other parents and room mates could not be found.

I'm hoping he built up a lot of resistance by just living in that room for the year.

It is an extremely sad situation. Some people take profit of the poor, of the population by jacking up prices illegally. It's them who are responsible, who need to be put in jail.

I understand what you're saying but the infected snake, the price jackers, has to be cut @ the head. Then there wouldn't be followers.

Some people are terrible. And others don't take the time to explain and being compassionate; they use the "Like" button as an exterminator. It is truly sad.

Scarcity drives the market. Having the government prevent prices going up just ensures those who have more money and the inclination can buy out all of the product. Then there is none left. Government is it's own problem masquerading as it's solution.

And the people who are vulnerable aren't only the elders and the younger and middle age ones with chronic medical conditions (eg.; heart, lungs, asthma, blood pressure, respiratory issues, etc.) but also doctors, nurses, medical staff, hospital workers, etc., who are more exposed to the Coronavirus than the general population ...

https://www.businessinsider.com/why-...doctors-2020-2

And that's a fact. Anf if they run out of proper equipment and protective outfits and masks and respiratory tools and if they are not enough medical staff to attend and save lives, and if they are overwhelmed ... it's super easy to envision the consequences.

Best to stay home, close the schools, learn from home (classes), cancel large gatherings of people, shows, concerts, mass prayers, ...don't wait till it's too late, take preventive measures everyone, don't shake hands, and if you are a prominent rock star in contact with a lot of people be triple more cautious, and get tested every couple weeks.

There's a lot of talk of hand sanitizer on here and I'd just like to let everybody know that there's an easier, better for your hands, alternative. Hand washing. Lather your hands with soap for about 20 seconds. Sing your ABCs twice or Happy Birthday twice. That's long enough. If you're in a public restroom, use paper towel to turn off the taps. I will NOT get into an argument about sanitizer vs. soap. This is information to be used by people that don't want to use, can't afford, or can't find hand sanitizer. Using the above method will help to keep you safe.

Yeah, the thing is, NOW is the time when we need sanitizers the most and they are no where to be found. And the sadder part is that it's either due to stores negligently not stocking up enough or people buying at massive quantities, more than they actually need. If it's the latter, then people are out of control and it doesn't even benefit anyone, not even themselves. And you know why? Because you are taking away sanitizers from people who don't have any just so you can have an excess supply. And if you're doing that, you're preventing other people from taking necessary precautions so they can mitigate the risk of catching and spreading the disease.

This is not a one person job; this is a team effort. We ALL need to work together if we want to get through this crisis. If we can't work as a team, then the situation will only keep getting worse instead of better.

That's all well and good, but many of us, especially us subway riders, don't always have easy access to soap and water. So when I'm on the subway and I'm holding onto the pole that's infested with nasty germs, I need to sanitize my hands right away. And since there is no sink with soap at train stations, then this is where sanitizers come in handy. Same goes for fast food restaurants when I have to eat with my hands.

Regarding subway cars, if you're holding onto a pole, use a barrier. Glove, paper towel, etc. Also, there's no need to use sanitizer "right away" as long as you aren't touching your face. Simply wait until you get where you're going and wash your hands then. Regarding your second issue, go to a fast food restaurant that has a washroom and there is no issue. I'm sure there are many more options if you just put a little thought into it.

Sorry, but no. Hand sanitizers are a must if you're traveling anywhere in NYC.
