That's all, thats my opinion, thats the balance I make, that's what makes sense to me; investing in health, cleanness, wealth last. Business must go on but if people die doing business is it worth it? Good business is take care of people, helping the poor, people who lost their jobs, the doctors and nurses who are working on the front lines. ...Not bailing out companies who are up to no good. Anyway I think comes Easter on April 12 common sense will prevail and lose heads will get new bolts. I'm pretty sure of that, or that would be pure mass suicide...extreme selfish madness...Sparta. |

Tell that to Italy. Tell that, sadly, to the US...numbers are numbers. You can make them fit whatever perspective you want.
Fine....let's say when all is said and done that the total death rate is 2%. So what. The death rate for those who end up hospitalized are way higher - right now the US is at 10%. So what does it matter to nitpick numbers. So is that number less 'real' than the 'overall' number? Why play semantics? |

I think it will be back to "business as usual" in most places by June but that will include some new restrictions that probably won't go away until after there's a vaccine.
Social distancing is one of those restrictions, especially since most people still can't follow that one. |

I think every country will be more prepared the next time this happens. That's actually why some places that had to deal with SARS already were more prepared than others that hadn't. Canada actually has a stockpile of 55 million N95 masks because of SARS for instance (they're checking to see if they're actually still good).

This is a pandemic we are living in right now, not a Wall Street New York Stock Exchange game. A barrel of oil will get to $10 and $5. Gold you cannot buy right now, and nobody knows the real value, or you can buy for around $2,100 US an ounce and wait weeks for delivery...includes shipping. But on paper what's the price of gold today? We need ventilators, it's worth more than gold, we need lots of masks, it's worth more than $2 trillion stimulus, we need medical protective gear and equipment, we need to help our parents, our doctors, our nurses, the vulnerable. ...The strong will survive. |
