Don't you think you're being a bit pessimistic? We got through the Swine Flu pandemic; we can get through this.

I heard from a buddy today who works retail that many foot locker stores that have opened back up are seeing record sales days for those days they have been open. That's on reduced hours too.

You risk dying every single day you step out that door. Yes while the virus can hurt you so is not having a country that is running.

My Great Grandmother grew up in the Depression. If she were alive still she'd tell you that right now it would be better to risk working then end up being hungry and wondering if you'll have enough money to put food on the table.

Yeah, this is why I've been back and forth on the issue. I was speaking with some people I know about this and literally got torn to pieces when I told them I originally wanted the economy to open up. In fact, one person I spoke with on the phone yesterday got so mad at me and hung up the phone on me because she thought I was a terrible person for choosing jobs over life.

So I don't know anymore. I'm a bad person no matter which side I pick.

If they want to be mad let them be mad. Who cares what others think. They will change their tune when the money dries up and they have to figure out how they are going to pay bills.

It is this simple. I will do what I have to do in order to ensure my survival. I'm not going to unnecessary risk others but my lively hood is important. If I have to work with a mask and be around people so be it.

I told you I wasn't very math-minded, and it took some moments for the distinction and relevance of your numbers to set in for me.
[Show spoiler]

I'm also looking at the other state-specific pages on the worldometers.info site and I see how New York, and to a lesser extent New Jersey, are the only ones on this site showing a real discernible decline in their daily new numbers.
Other states are showing either a steady median for the most part, or are visibly on the rise, like California rising to meet New York's miraculous 1800 lows, and Texas climbing on up.
I would personally just rather see more states start to get lower and lower like New York has rather than significantly-lessen safety measures while the numbers sit wading or already rising.

I'm gonna head out of this thread for the time being though, since I see it turning into the same old black and white back and forths. All the best to almost everyone! Respect, bruce. Props to the Q-anon guy! I c u favin'.

Unfortunately for the foreseeable future people will feel like their lives are on the end of a Yo-yo. Restrictions will be lifted then reapplied (and perhaps strengthened) as we go through peaks and valleys.

Brazil had more cases than the U.S. today. First time a country other than the U.S. had a higher daily total in quite a while. Brazil is definitely the biggest hot spot. Surely it's comparatively even worse than what the numbers suggest, since Brazil has done less than 10% of the per capita testing of the other top countries.

Thumbs up Hydroxychloroquine: The Drug Costa Rica Uses Successfully To Fight Covid-19

https://qcostarica.com/hydroxychloro...ight-covid-19/

Quote:
Used in the world for decades in the treatment of malaria, a month ago, the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) decided to apply hydroxychloroquine to patients infected with the new coronavirus until a vaccine is available.
Quote:
In Costa Rica we have been applying hydroxychloroquine since we had a meeting by teleconference with personnel in China who attended the emergency in the cities of Shanghai and Wuhan,” explained Ruiz.
Quote:
Ruiz explained: “Hydroxychloroquine has specific specifications and doses. Thanks to the help that Chinese scientists gave us and a manual of therapeutic care, we are using this treatment at the established doses.
It appears to be safe and effective when given under a doctor's care.

That's what's annoying today. I feel like people today think there is a clear answer to everything and if you don't agree with them, you're some sort horrible, inhumane human being. This is why discussions like this Coronavirus and even politics and religion have become so controversial today and we've become so divided. I don't mind if you believe in X and I believe in Y, but people today thing X is the right decision and anyone who believes in Y is such a bad person that I don't want to have anything to do with.

This nonsense where I lose a friend and get hung up on the phone or you getting yelled at by members is so unnecessary. Can we ever agree to disagree anymore?

HIPPA laws are being violated here in Colorado. Health departments are sharing personal patient info with law enforcement. Ridiculous

Towards the beginning of the pandemic, when infection rates were very high it was appropriate to take extreme measures. It’s also appropriate to start easing those measures cautiously and responsibly as infection rates come down. So if towards the beginning you argued against such measures then opposition to your comments would have been quite right imo (not any yelling though).
