What an a-hole.

That being said, I do understand that some people have serious breathing issues & can't wear masks because they may pass out. That also being said, I somehow doubt this rude douche was one of these people.

Schools are important; a good education today is a healthy society.
It's primordial to live in an educated society.
_____

Today the overall numbers weren't rosy ...
20200708_181357.jpg

In the world many new cases, in the US 60,000+
There are some new countries as compared to say couple months ago that have several new cases per day.
_____

Question 1. Would it be fair to assume that in reality there is approximately ten times more cases (infected people) than the numbers given, worldwide?
If not just skip to the next question; if yes you can figure out what this closer to reality number would be ...120 million+ (you still can check the next question, it's permissible).

2. Would it be fair to assume that there is approximately 30% more departed (deaths) than the actual numbers given, worldwide?
If not there is no more question; if yes the actual number would be closer to roughly 700,000+

* Not too many people are wearing masks here in South Island, today
Self-distancing is always number one rule. Plexiglass are everywhere. Banks are still slow but less slow than last week...three tellers now instead of just one.
I was surprised of one business not accepting cash.
Best Buy is accepting cash now, and the 4K and 2K Blu-ray sections are diminishing big time. They keep a bunch in the warehouse so that people don't touch them.
Things aren't the same, definitely.

It feels as if the world was in slow-motion ...

And, the work people do is not the same efficient work they did before this pandemic.
That is totally understandable; it is a factual observation in general.

@Penton, I listened to that first video interview with Anthony and Francis; two good men and they ended up on an optimistic touch...we will get through this...science will conquer.
For now and depending on where we live, it's important what we all do in regards to masks, kids back @ school, safety with our societies...no matter what jobs we are performing to make the economy rolling. I realize that here we live in the Americas, and total lockdowns are like jails for many. There is a fair balance between today and tomorrow; we all play a role in that balance...each one of us.

Be kind, be calm and be safe. Bars are a bad idea right now, and mass gathering @ the beaches aren't safe.

USA, Brazil, Mexico, India, ...etc., stay safe.

Today, US and Brazil alone: 103,500 new cases.

That guy got fired from his insurance sales job within the day of that video. In the middle of a pandemic with no unemployment insurance and with his prior position being a sales job based on reputation.

Moral of the story: don't be a punk, and definitely don't go viral on video being a punk.

In lighter news, the WSJ had a fun article on amusement parks in Japan banning screaming on roller coaster rides to try to prevent covid. It hasn't gone over well in the roller coaster community.

WSJ - Reopened Theme Parks Ban Screaming on Roller Coasters. Riders Are Howling.
Japan’s park recommendations aim to prevent the spread of Covid-19, but thrill seekers find keeping quiet isn’t easy

edit: dangit, that article is paywalled, it wasn't at first for me.

Still pretty surprised that Disneyworld is opening. Flordia seems to be skyrocketing in cases, and NOW Disneyworld opens? Makes sense!

Our Gov (DeSantis) believes that Disney World's health and safety procedures are "safe enough" to ensure a reopening even with cases rising daily.

That's the problem with Edmonton not having much of a first wave since they didn't learn how to handle outbreaks. They kept downplaying it was just one ward, then two wards and so on before we finally got to this point of a lockdown. That hospital is literally across the street from West Edmonton Mall which hasn't seen pre-pandemic crowds but has still been busy since the re-openings and most people can't be bothered with masks or following the one way direction signs. So how many infected staff went for food breaks at the mall or patients checking out stopping at the mall after? That hospital also didn't have a very good reputation before this so not surprising really. Could get a lot worse as more get tested.

Where's the rest of the video?
How and who threatened him? Maybe he had a reason for yelling?
Not for nothing, but this is a stressful time.
And he now has a wrongful termination lawsuit against his former employer.
He wasn't representing the company when he was fired, he was on his own personal time, in non-work clothes as well.

In light of new testimonials coming out by nurses, I’m fearful that shortages of PPE is becoming an issue yet again.

Especially since last week, 6 large medical equipment distribution companies that play a pivotal role in providing PPE to facilities in our country stated they have serious concerns that “raw material for PPE is now in a really bad position worldwide.”

As one company official stated: “Supply is still coming in, but not enough to meet demand.” The companies cautioned that prices for raw materials have gone up dramatically and that, for example, “raw material for gowns is unavailable at any price, at least in the quantities we need to make gowns.” They warned that continuing to supply PPE under these conditions is “not sustainable.”

Yes, the first video interview I posted few days ago, and the second was included in an article you provided, which I also watched.

I'm from that school of thought also...with Dr. Fauci.

It's not only our children and grand children, it's also our teachers, our parents, us all. If I was to send back my kids to school this Fall I want to make sure that all preventive measures were in place and that the school principal and staff (teachers) and related school workers were all 100% sound and safe and conscious of the situation. ...Not a so easy task if you ask me and also depending of how many cases are in that state/province, and the surrounding communities/vicinities (geographically and culturally).

Also, we all understand very clearly that to reopen the economy children have to go back to school, or who would take care of them, the parents? Parents have to go back to work...it's part of the economic machine. But work with safety measures of course.

The countries which are on top of this virus executed beautifully full lockdowns.
I watched that short video of New Zealand earlier.

Speaking of economy, China is in full blooming.

I've also watched various opinions on school's reopening this Fall; mostly repetitive comments in order to help the kids to get back to normality and the parents back to work. ...Brief, all part of a rolling economy.

My word of wisdom: Caution ... has to be exercised with extreme vigilance. IMHO
Particularly in the regions where there are more cases of infected COVID-19 people.

In China children @ schools (from some pictures and videos) are in some instances separated by plexiglass, wearing masks, and taking good preventive disciplined measures. The teachers are on top of these precautions too, of course.

Can the measures taken similarly in countries like China be applied here in the Americas?
