Insurance premiums could spike as much as 40 percent next year, a new analysis warns, as employers and insurers confront the projected tens of billions of dollars in additional costs of treating coronavirus patients.
Definitely not what anyone wants to hear, but this is no surprise. What it does mean is that for those of us who are lucky to have health insurance - there will be less take home pay for us each paycheck due to the insurance costs going up. This will happen to everyone, even if you never get the virus and/or are never treated for the virus. Shit.

For me it’s been only Target & the supermarket. I’ve heard a few people while at the market say they wish they could shop at certain stores again. Really not sure how much longer people are going to put up with these lockdowns.

I'm in PA as well and I agree. I live in an area where a lot of people from NY/NJ have vacation homes and they're all here.

They’re part of the problem, and why shutdowns are necessary.

I had to go into a Target outpost near my job to grab some personal hygiene stuff and it wasn't chaotic. I sanitized the packaging when I got home in an abundance of caution but i forgot to ask a roaming associate in-store to remove the security box from my Gillette razor blades so now I'll have to find a way to pry that sucker open.

As for comestibles, thank goodness for Uber Eats. I don't cook so I can make do with canned goods but a person can only sustain themselves on tuna and soup for so long before you go bonkers so I depend on these delivery apps. There's a KFC in my neighborhood but I never liked how they run the place so I avoid it entirely.

Places like Walmart have bare shelves because they're so big that that's where everyone and their mothers shop. Now is the time to support those little mom and pops that have stuck around. You're more likely to find supplies there anyway.

The cat was then diagnosed with corona.
The virus went from human to cat and there is no indication it can go the other way around.

So, if you're sick and have pets better be safe than sorry and make sure they don't get it too.
The article says they didn't know if the cat was still alive but the cat is doing fine now.
Poor cat. I hope he makes it, that he's not too old or an asthmatic cat.

Looks like a young one in that photo ...

There are pretty good tutorials on YouTube to show you how to remove pretty much any security boxes that are used by retailers, this came in handy once b/c I used the self-serve checkout and forgot all about the case on a blu-ray. It actually was easier than I thought.

The girls in our dept love to decorate for holidays and events. This is what they put up for easter.

[Show spoiler]

DISCLAIMER

Mask on deco is a lone, years-old floater that staff have kept for reasons unknown. No PPE/supplies were used or harmed in the making of the Easter theme decorations.

Also, docs bought lunch for entire dept. and after the day was done, they all settled down for a rousing game of UNO, still attired in some form of PPE and at a safe distance from each other, which made the game that much more awkward. I feel I work with a kick-ass staff- love every last one of them.
Under the circumstances, we try and keep it as fun as we can. Took some pics of the after-work activities, but no consent was given to post those, so maybe I'll share at a later time.

Alas, it was not all fun and games, three of our staff were sent home with "symptoms". Two will be tested and the third was diagnosed with stress/anxiety and should return Monday, God willing.

Trying to determine if I've had COVID 19. A friend of mine has body aches. The only person he's been around at all in the last 2 weeks for a whole day was myself.

I had what I thought was just a cold. As my only symptom was good old Sputum production getting coughed up. I know it can be a symptom of COVID 19. But it's not one that's mentioned as a definite indication.

Anyone able to shed any light? Cheers.

They won't even test you unless you're at deaths door, hence the 7 day isolation thing. If you are going to get really ill it'll be sometime in week 3 of infection.

I'm pretty sure I have just had it and am better as of Thursday/yesterday.

Called twice and was told if there was nothing they could do unless I was really ill and I had just come back from Madrid where I got it.

There was a reason why I posted that "roll eyes" emoji at the end of my post..

My post was sarcastic and was meant to demonstrate the average mentality of people towards this outbreak. I don't think people are taking this seriously and that's why our cases keep going up. People can keep sticking their head up their butts and say it's due to more testing, but the fact of the matter is, we have WAY more cases than China and that's just unacceptable. It's not even slowing down and at 100K cases, you'd think it would, but it's not. So, we're in bad shape and what we're currently doing is not good enough. China has demonstrated that is outbreak CAN be controlled but sadly, we are failing MISERABLY at it.

Apparently, China isn't counting asymptomatic cases in their count.

However, the number of reported cases per day doesn't mean that those people got the virus that day. Since people can carry the virus for a significant length of time you can't just go by the new number of reported cases as a sign if the cases are increasing or slowing down.

Thing is I've never had flu. I know it's typical in those with apparent immunity to flu, the white blood cells just flush it out by coughing it up. And the virus does next to nothing.

China population- 1.4 billion
- Virus began in mid November 2019. That's a little over 4 months ago. 81,000 cases so far that has accumulated in 4 months.

USA population- 329.5 million (not even half of China's population!!!)
- Virus began in late January. That's about 2 months ago. That's HALF the amount of time China had the outbreak. To date, we have 120,000 cases in half the amount of time.

The USA has a smaller population and had the outbreak for a shorter period of time than China, yet we skyrocketed in cases and surpassed China's numbers in a heartbeat! Seriously, it's absolutely pathetic. China is not to blame for this pandemic because we could've controlled it, but we didn't!
