I went into work to get my schedule today, and while the T.P. section was noticeably diminished, it was far from empty.

I'm trying to understand the sudden need to go apeshit over buying tons of T.P.

Because some people believe they can fashion a crude anti-virus mask out of T.P.

I am dead serious.

Plus, people want to barricade themselves inside and "wait it out", so they're stocking up on non-perishables to do so.

It was a beautiful day here in NYC and guess what, not many people outside. People are scared stiff here and locking themselves inside their house.

The main thing that I’m taking home from the real-time coronavirus tracking website is that the cases in China have stabilized over the past couple of weeks.

Hopefully, with widespread testing, the situation here in the U.S. will be similar in the not-too-distant future.

Just because people have chosen to stay inside it doesn't mean they're scared. More likely is that they're smart. You can't get sick if you aren't around anybody with the virus.

China also deployed drones with loudspeakers against its citizens to keep them inside. See WSJ video:

https://www.wsj.com/video/china-depl...71A5ECD39.html

There's no way that would fly in the US.

I watched a clip of what appeared to be authorities in China WELDING people's doors shut. I don't know if houses in China have only one way in or out but that's a bit much, isn't it?

I have a confirmed case in my county! Some guy came back from Italy and became symptomatic. Hard to believe it's already in my rural area....

I was supposed to go on a cruise in May....

The cruise line has given me the option to re-book at no charge. Delta is also offering to give me a travel voucher of some kind to apply towards a future flight. Right now the CDC is saying to not get on a cruise ship so I can see most of these upcoming cruises getting canceled altogether. I'll likely cancel my cruise but I'm going to wait it out a few more weeks and see how this all unfolds. Surprisingly..the cruise line is allowing me to cancel up to 24 hours before embarkation.

The wife and I are suppose to go on an Alaskan cruise in Early May. With all these issues, we aren't sure if we go or cancel it.

Yes, hopefully it will be. The decline in China cases certainly is encouraging, but I wonder how much their draconian countermeasures have to do with it.

A lot. I am almost certain they are undergoing serious human rights violations in order to stamp this out. The whole thing mentioned above of them welding apartments shut for instance. Are those people going to be provided food? I highly doubt it. They're probably going to be left to die of starvation. We will probably never know the extent of what China has done because they will do their best to cover it all up.

It’s definitely a tough choice but I think if things continue to progressively get worse...then the only option is to cancel at this point. My cruise is during the first week in May so I have a good 45 days to really see how this all plays out.

Ours is May 9th, we will make a decision by late April.

Women seem to be less likely to die from coronavirus than men, and children appear to be less likely to die than other age groups.

Isn’t that a bit odd, children have smaller lungs so you’d think a virus that attacks the lungs would kill children first?

Makes me wonder how many other people at airports have this. The fact that he works in the transit sector concerns me that this is going to spread like crazy throughout certain popular places like Port Authority in Times Square, and other major subway hubs.
